I can’t say enough about how INCREDIBLE MJ is. She has been my personal trainer for a few years and has completely changed my life. She makes fitness fun and challenging at the same time and the results are fantastic. HIGHLY HIGLY RECOMMEND!!! I have been attending MJ's fitness classes since January (started out with the FitPop Dance classes and worked myself up to the bootcamps) and have been thrilled with the results. Not only has her motivation and enthusiasm pushed me on the path to strong physical results, my whole outlook on exercise and how it should make you feel internally/mentally has been the big win!

No one class is the same and she is always trying a new style to keep things interesting.

I am always recommending these classes to everyone I know :)

Love all of MJ's classes, she is a high energy trainer with tons of knowledge and an excellent motivator! The Tabata bootcamp classes are a serious workout for any fitness level; I lost several inches from my waist, thighs and arms and 8 pounds over 3 months taking these classes! The FitPop classes are so much fun, with your favorite tunes and amazing choreography that you (almost) forget you're working out. As a new mom I've also taken her Movin' Mommas class and honestly it was the best part of my week, hands down. Tailored to postpartum life, it is the best mix dance, exercise and stretching...and the babies love it too! My little babe was all smiles watching me dance, squat, and especially while getting pushup-kisses. Can't recommend MJ's classes enough. MJ from Dynamic Fitness and Retreats is my go-to fitness guru! She was the Fitness Expert for my 8-week Health & Wellness course, she's taught at my Yoga Retreat Center, she's trained me personally, and I've participated in her group classes. MJ knows her stuff! She's a fitness expert, yoga instructor, amazing dance teacher...I could go on and on about how skilled she is, but she's also very personable, fun to work with, and at the end of the day you get an INCREDIBLE workout! MJ has extra batteries the rest of us mere mortals don't possess. As a result, she is a dynamo of fun, fitness inspo and incredible choreography. Her dance classes are a great work out, she creates a friendly community vibe and increases the positivity around her. You can literally "name that tune," and she'll pull out a great dance to teach us. I don't know where she stores this encyclopedic knowledge of pop and dance moves, but she's got them and ready to share. I can't recommend taking classes from her enough. She's the real deal. When you finally carve out time to do a workout, you need someone who will push you to do your best and make it fun while you do it. MJ does both of those things in every class!! I have really enjoyed taking her classes because she creates a low pressure/judgement free workout zone that has everyone feeling their best by the end! I travel from Burlington to workout with her when I can, and it's worth the drive EVERY TIME :) Highly recommend. More...

Founded by Fitness Expert Melissa-Jane (MJ) Shaw, SOUL FUEL was born out of the desire to create a space where fitness is an act of EMPOWERMENT, of STRENGTHening from the inside out, of finding JOY in moving your body.

Since childhood, MJ worked in the aesthetically driven entertainment and dance industries, constantly needing to measure up to standards of body dysmorphia and beauty, finally surrendering to the real power of her body after being transformed by years of fertility treatments and finally motherhood. Her body became something else, something that wasn’t just for viewing and objectifying, but for moving around the world, for inspiring, for creating and for loving herself. MJ left ‘the business’ and made her life’s work building a space in which to share this renewed fitness and physical outlook.

SOUL FUEL welcomes both fitness gurus and novices alike, where participants feel challenged, but not intimated, no matter where they are in their fitness journey. More than a gym, SOUL FUEL is a place where everybody knows your name; we promise kindness, community and lots of fun! We also promise fantastic and varied workouts that will motivate from a place of excitement and overall improved health and wellness.

We are currently offering VIRTUAL personal training only, as per current provincial restrictions (updated January 13th, 2021). We will continue to offer virtual personal training + classes throughout and after the pandemic to stay connected to our clients!

We are currently offering virtual personal training + classes. When we are allowed to reopen for in-studio services, our personal training studio is PRIVATE - it will just be you and your trainer in our private space. We also have stringent cleaning + sanitizing procedures, screening guidelines, and have a garage door & multiple windows for plenty of fresh airflow!

Services

SOUL FUEL Trainers and Coaches have been carefully selected. In addition to being great people to spend an hour sweating with, our trainers have several certifications, areas of expertise, a minimum of 5 years experience (most have over 10) and are working Fitness Professionals. SOUL FUEL proudly provides *premium* personal training, largely due to its personal training talent.

*Currently offering VIRTUAL sessions due to provincial restrictions* Our Basement Body Shop is a private Personal Training studio. It will just be you and your trainer in the space, no sharing busy gym floors. The Basement Bodyshop is equipped with cardio machines, a weight rack with Olympic bar, pullies and plates and a variety of equipment to work you out and crush your goals!
