On my visit to Edinburgh, Scotland, I visited the local shop on recommendation from family and friends. The services was outstanding. They provided great recommendations and soon found the right tartan for my family association. Ordering was easy. I eventually came back and had them size my son as well and was able to add it to the original order a few days earlier. Although they gave an estimate of time, it arrived much earlier than I would have thought and I was impressed with the quality and the packing/handling of our kilts by the business. Got a black tartain utility kilt with detatchable pockets that i am over the moon with. Fantastic service. Wouldn't even consider going anywhere else for my kilt needs! The friendliest people you could ask for who really care about the craft and arent just there to take your money. I took my other kilt to be tailored and left with it un changed and having spent no money because they advised me not to, explaining that the style didnt need it to be smaller. Once again the end result of the kilt i got there is just terrific. They talked me through every step when deciding on fabrics and such. Just received a waistcoat from Goeffrey's shop made in my family tartan. Was fitted for it two months ago during a visit go Edinburgh. It fits beautifully, is tailored with great precision and attention to detail. Lining up all of the bits so the plaid is perfectly laid out must be difficult and take a great deal of extra fabric. It was my wife's gift to me for Christmas, best gift ever. And a great incentive to watch my weight so I may continue to wear it. More...

We have just had Tartan Troos made for our Sons Christmas Ball at the Prestonfield. The service we received was nothing short of outstanding. We were looked after by Corrine from start to finish and she was an absolute star. No mean feat dealing with a 6ft 4 teenager!!!! Recently ordered a kilt, jacket and waistcoat for my wedding from, Geoffrey (Tailor). It took me ages to decide what i wanted and after several visits and the help of Robert i chose my tweed and got the ball rolling. Roberts adivse throughout the process was invaluable. He knows the industry and knows what works and what doesn't. Me being me I didn't just want any old kilt, i wanted something really special and a bit of a showstopper. Well, the end product did not disappoint. What a stunning bit of tailoring. The first time i wore it (other than when i picked it up) was on my wedding day and it made me feel like a million bucks. The outfit attracted quite a lot of interest and really positive comments as it was not like your typical highland wear. Robert even convinced me to go for a "special" lining that really set the piece off. I was dubious at first but once i saw it all together knew it was a great call. If your thinking of getting some highland wear made up for you then I highly recommend popping in and having a chat. Great service, great staff, quality craftsmanship and actually great value too. Geoffrey's father, Willie Nicholsby, made my original kilt when I was a young Pipe Major in 1971. Despite constant usage over 45 years it is still like new but needed 6 inches added to the waist; I decided it was time to see if it could be made to fit me better. I rang Geoffrey who I had never met before. From the outset he and his representatives were helpful, courteous, and accommodating. I explained what was needed and Geoffrey advised me to send the kilt to him which I did. Some 3 weeks later I received a phone call to say the kilt was ready to send out and with no fuss I paid over the phone and the kilt arrived by courier in Yorkshire the next day. The finished article is immaculate, I can find no evidence of joins or alterations whatsoever. It looks great, feels comfortable to wear, and fits perfectly - all without any professional measuring. As someone who played in and had the privilege to run an acclaimed Pipe Band for many years, someone who understands the nuances of highland dress from a military and civilian perspective, and someone who knows the difference between a poor and a gold standard job, the quality is at the very top end of the spectrum. Even the pleats were sown in just as when the kilt was delivered new all those years ago. Geoffrey and his team delivered a first class service from the outset and I am delighted with the result. In 3 weeks, with no visit necessary, my kilt was returned in every bit as good condition as when it was made. I would recommend this company to anyone without reservation.- the response and the workmanship is that expected of a highly reputable organisation.
