I’ve been learning the drums with James for over two years now. Since he has been teaching me, my confidence, knowledge and technical ability has greatly improved. He is a really good teacher. He is able to identify any problems that arise and break down what is to be learnt into progressive steps, which results in successful learning. My son has been having weekly drum lessons with James for quite a few years now. He loves his lessons and James inspires him. He is now working towards his grade 7. James makes the lessons interesting and if he wants to learn a new song James will do that or if he needs helps with his school music work James is fine with that too. We have used James for just over 5 years now. My son who James teaches started with James when he was 8 ... he is now 13. James was polite,warm and welcoming from the first time we met him and after a short conversation about what kind of music my son listened too - he knew just how to enthuse him . James has bought my son on in leaps and bounds and he is now getting ready for his grade 4 exam. My son is still excited for the lessons and James still knows how to get the best from their lessons. Have been having lessons for 3 or 4 years now. Great teacher, with a perfect teaching environment (2 kits). Reasonably priced and very flexible to work on whatever you are interested in as well as generally improving your drumming.
Highly recommended.

At the age of 63, I am probably the oldest of Jim's students. I started having lessons with Jim a couple of years ago without any prior music knowledge or experience of playing an instrument. I found Jim very easy to get along with straight away and it soon became apparent that Jim is not only an extremely good drummer but an excellent teacher - professional, patient, encouraging and enthusiastic. While he obviously follows a tried and tested formula for beginners like me, it is quite apparent that he tailors the lessons and his approach to suit me and my preferred way of learning.
