About

Drew McDonald Photography is a combination of all the different aspects of my work. I am very passionate about my photos and could never choose a discipline in which to solely follow. I am constantly surrounded with incredible landscapes in both the mountains and the coast.

You won’t find a better, more talented and lovely photographer than Drew! With his wife Alix, they were calm, unobtrusive and always happy. They put us and our wedding guests completely at ease and made it feel as though a friend was shooting our wedding. Most importantly, our photos are phenomenal; they are so unusual and capture every single moment of our day. Drew listened really carefully to the specific photos that we wanted and made sure that they were included – even in the excitement and bustle of the day, he was fantastic at organising all of us. Our photos are more than anything we could have hoped for – they are simply beautiful and it is all down to Drew’s creative eye and them both going above and beyond. We also got Drew to do a stop-motion video of our day which is really fun and a great way to see all of the photos. I smile every single time I watch it as Drew has caught shots of people that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. We can’t thank Drew and Alix enough! I am already recommending Drew McDonald Photography to everyone that I know. More...

Drew captured our wedding in Chamonix beautifully. He worked soo hard the entire day to capture everyone at their best whilst also blending into the background and putting everyone at ease. Drew knows the area really well so if you're thinking of having a wedding in Chamonix he can put you in touch with the right people. Drew knew exactly which Gondola to take and the best locations for mountain backdrops to our wedding photos. We were very lucky to find him and for everything he did we consider his prices more than reasonable. We couldn't have asked for more from Drew, I also recommend ordering a wedding stop motion video as it captures the day really well! More...

Drew did our beach wedding shoot this evening - friendly, relaxed and professional. Great direction and really read the light and scenery well. If the finished products are as good as the few we saw on the back of the camera, they’ll be awesome. Stoked he could do it. More...

Drew captured some awesome photos of my two girls having surf lessons - not just the typical "on the board" shots, but some beautiful candid shots capturing their joy at what they were doing. Fantastic hard working and talented photographer. More...

He took all the stress away and we really enjoyed having our wedding photos taken with Drew. He was so chilled out but yet a total professional he knew his job, so we could just relax knowing he was going to get some wonderful pictures despite atrocious weather conditions and poor lighting. We are so relieved we managed to book him.
Drew feels like your friend from the first time you chat to every bit of correspondence after the day. You can tell the job doesn't just end on the day for him, he really takes the time editing his work with care and skill to make his images the best they can be. He listens to what you want from your photos as a couple and boy does he deliver! The photos we got from Drew were amazing! We could not have asked for more. The weather was horrendous for our wedding and he just worked with it making the most of it, with truly unique and stunning results! I can not recommend Drew enough!! If you are want some stunning pictures generally or if you too are getting married (especially if you fear a wet wedding!), hire Drew - you won't have a care in the world dancing as Husband and wife in the rain with him working his McDonald Magic!

Amazing wedding photographer. One of my favourite moments of our day was heading off to do a photo shoot with him. Was also lovely to see all his captured moments of the day that we had missed! Thank you Drew

Q&As

The Decisive Moment.
With all the modern technology around these days it is easy for anyone to say they are a photographer.
Henri Cartier-Bresson was a photographer in the 1930's. He was famous for his timing and capturing the perfect image at the perfect moment without having the technology there to 'check the back of his camera'.
When I look through my camera I always wait for that perfect expression or moment when everything is just right. Those are the moments that last forever!

One of main priorities is to have a good relationship with my clients. So there is no list of questions that I follow. I like to get to know people for who they are and from there, find out their specific needs, as everyone is different.

There is so much potential to give a 'cheesy' answer here ... So with that in mind - I am a photographer and I am living my childhood dream. If that isn't reason enough, I don't know what is.

My whole life I knew I was going to be a photographer. After working for a few larger companies such as Venture Family Portraiture. It was the obvious next step and I have never looked back.

I take so much pride in what I do. I am my own worst critic and this continually pushes me in both my photography and life.
