I had the honor of meeting Ron Drescher, while accompanying former clients of mine to his office for a free consultation for them to learn about their options considering bankruptcy. These folks had bought a house from me several years before, but due to an extended state of underemployment and medical issues, they fell into an insurmountable financial hole. English is not their first language, so I felt compelled to accompany them on their appointment to make sure they were not going to be led down the garden path with false claims and promises or charged an outrageous amount of money.I was impressed by the laid back and unpretentious nature of the office and staff, which allowed everyone to relax a little under the circumstances of such a tense situation. Ron treated them with dignity and respect, patiently explaining the process and answering their questions. After the consultation, they were able to review his blogs and videos to deepen their comprehension of the process and ultimately decided to have Drescher & Associates represent them in their bankruptcy.Lauretta was an invaluable resource to help keep them on track and Ron was never too busy when they needed reassurance. It is wonderful to become personally acquainted with a professional who is kind and compassionate and takes into account all aspects of a clients needs during the process. I also went along for the trustee hearing, so I could become better acquainted with the process in the event that I would encounter others who would find themselves in this unfortunate circumstance. It was very clear that their obligations far exceeded their ability to pay them back, but according to the tax assessment of the house, it superficially appeared that there may have been sufficient equity in the house to sell it and pay off at least the mortgagor and a few creditors. Due to the uniqueness of the property I was not able to assess a completely accurate market value to it, so I had them obtain an independent appraisal. In this way an objective person could afix a financial calculation to the assets and features, as well as take into account the effect that the deferred maintenance would have on the numbers.Ultimately, it was deemed that the house when sold would be a short sale and what is to happen between my clients and the mortgage company is still in the process of being determined. Top to bottom and a to z, Ron Drescher and his team are a first rate group of caring individuals who personally put themselves out for their fellow man to help at a time when they are so very vulnerable to false hope. He states things as they are and advises you of the possibilities, as no particular result is assured. But he walks along every step of the way to hold your hand and calm your fears to bring about the best possible outcome. As you can tell, I wholeheartedly recommend and endorse Ron and his team!
