Douglas is a fantastic architect and the best of the best when it comes to modular design. He helped us build a custom modular home and transformed it from a boring box design to an estate masterpiece.

I have used Douglas Cutler Architects a number of years ago for an renovation on my current home. Now I had Doug design a new home that we are building as an investment. He has a great vision to visualize a design and how it will fit in but stand out in a neighborhood. Give him a call you will not be disappointed. More...

We live in a Douglas Cutler modular in suburban Connecticut. At first, we were a little wary about the benefits of building a modular home, and didn't even consider contacting a modular architect for our whole-house renovation until last winter when we were introduced to Doug through a friend.

During the initial consultation, we went through every aspect of how we could improve our home. Doug was knowledgeable and was completely focused on how he could design our dream home! When we visited his offices we were shown many styles: traditional, contemporary, lake, beach, rustic, victorian, tutor and so much more. We immediately started doing our research and learned about the benefits of building a pre-fab home (and there are many).

In the end, we decided to build addition of about 1,600 sqft. Doug made sure the exterior perfectly matched the style of our existing home, but the interior is what we were really concerned with. The result was warm, inviting and very elegant. We've now got these amazing open spaces with high ceilings that are a perfect place for entertaining! We could not be happier and highly recommend Douglas Cutler as both an architect and a visionary.

Doug Cutler is the ultimate professional. His knowledge of architecture and modular building is superb. We are building a modular house on an existing foundation with some modifications. Doug is detailed oriented and can explain the reasons behind his suggestions. He will make suggestions, but realizes the customer must be happy with the end product and must make the final decisions. His manner of doing business is professional and
timely. EMails and phone class are returned the next day. Very easy to work with. He is very aware and trying to stay within our budget. We are almost done with our home design.

Q&As

All of our above concerns have to be looked at as well as co-op or condo board limitations. Lastly the customers budget for construction has to be factored in.

Zoning analysis, Building Code limitations, Condo/Co-op board rules, Preparing as built existing drawings, Design development drawings, once approved construction documents, bidding and negotiations with contractors, awarding contract to contractor, construction inspection, project closeout and punch list, Certificate of Occupancy.

Interpreting a clients dream and making them happy and proud.

Creating sculpture we could live in instead of just looking at.

We are cutting edge embracing new technologies to save our customer money and time. We were the first architectural firm to design the modular mansion located in Mamaroneck New York in 1987. Since then we have been showcased in many magazines and on HGTV.
