We used Douglas on Friday 16th of August 2019 and he was just perfect he came to my Grans for the bridal prep and he was so lovely he would talk to me and calm my nerves he even offered to do a drinks run and was really nice to my other family members who spoke very highly of him I’m just not looking forwards to the belters of me getting my hair done but anyway Douglas you were absolutely fab thank you so much lots of love the new Mrs Holt xxxx (I just had to post a picture all because you’re in it and a few others )

I recently attended a wedding at which Douglas was the photographer. As an actor and commercial model, I have my photo taken a lot, so I am always intrigued when I meet photographers that I do not know. He is such an affable person and just SO nice that it was a pleasure watching him bring out the best in people because they felt at ease with him - and if you are someone, or know someone who is uncomfortable having their photo taken, you will be aware that people tend to freeze when they see a camera. This doesn't happen with Douglas because he is kind and warm, but also hugely discreet. The wedding was intimate; beautiful and relaxed and Douglas captured every moment for the couple to look back on. He even took a photograph of every guest with the bride and groom, which is something I will treasure. I attended another wedding the following weekend at which we were not allowed to take our own photographs, so I was very disappointed that only the family were photographed with the bride and groom. Douglas has just done a fantastic job of my wedding last weekend at Norwood Hall, Aberdeen. He was so easy to work with. He is so discreet when taking the photos most of the time I didn’t even see him which gives you relaxed natural photos. We had a unique wedding that was themed, Douglas was fully aware of this and made sure that all our of requirements and touches were included in the photography.
He was a joy to work with, made sure that we were both at ease throughout the day and ensured that we covered all the images that we wanted on the day.
As always there are changes on the day, which Douglas reacted to without any delay and was very supportive and understanding as well. The standard of images provided very of a very high standard and i'm delighted with the final images provided.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
For me it's being passionate about what i do!
I think that a good photographer loves what they do, and you can see it when you talk with them. It’s more than just a business. It’s something that’s a part of them and that they love doing.
Finding a photographer that has a true passion for what they do will almost always translate into beautiful images that you’ll cherish for years to come.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
For me it's getting to know the client and fully understanding the brief so:
What is the emotion, feeling or vibe you want to portray in these images? Is it fun, playful, mysterious, cute, serious etc...?
Whats your budget ?
Seems strange but what are you expecting from your photographer?
What do you love most about your job?
What started out as a hobby eventually became a career. That small camera that fit in my pocket expanded into a storage room full of backdrops, lighting equipment and rarely used gear. I now own my own photography business and live and breathe photography every day of the year. And you know what? I still enjoy it. Here is why I enjoy photography:
I enjoy photography because it has given me the opportunity to share in people’s most special moments on a regular basis, it has introduced me to many people who I now call friends and it enables me to work anytime, anywhere and capture moments in my own life that I don’t want to forget.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I picked up my first camera, taking photos in my free time and learning about image composition and camera settings it was not in my mind that this would one day be my living.
I’ve never stopped learning but like my own particular style but always paying attention to current trends and evolving to meet the changes. It wasn’t long before I took the plunge and invested in some camera equipment, which to the horror of my wife, I wanted to work with the best, just like her obsession with a certain type of handbags !
I started with a Canon 450D and quickly upgraded to a 750D and added to my collection with a Canon 7D. The difference in the settings it was a world away from what I had before and I love it to this day, I got accessories such as lens and backgrounds anything the pros have I wanted. Coupled with my interest in taking images I felt it was important to understand the post processing. I learned about editing, Lightroom and everything to improve the quality and allow me to be more creative. If I am being totally honest I have loved every second and I would have continued in the same way if this had stayed just a hobby, an expensive hobby I would admit !

Well, for one thing, I hope you like my work.
I hope that you like my ability to create unique photos for my clients on their special day, not just traditional, pretty images, but a style that suits your venue, capturing those candid moments, that sparkle showing your own personalities. I love being able to adjust to the roller coaster of the particular moment and then take the right photos, to ensure it's captured in a candid, but creative and memorable way. I'm definately not rigid in my approach to taking photos of YOUR day or specific requirements. I have standards, but I'm always keeping my client in mind.
Wedding Photography
I provide a variety of packages tailored to the needs of the client, all of the below include a pre wedding consultation and a online gallery to view, share and download all edited images taken on the special day.
Silver Package includes the wedding ceremony, bride & groom and family images after the event.
Gold Package includes the bride preparations, wedding ceremony, bride & groom and family images after the event.
Diamond Package includes the bride preparations, wedding ceremony, bride & groom and family images after the event, wedding reception up to and including the 1st Dance or Cake Cutting and I will provide a canvas print and USB as well.
Platinum Package includes the bride preparations, groom preparations, wedding ceremony, bride & groom and family images after the event, wedding reception until the end of the night , Canvas print + USB, and a wedding album as well.

Family Portraits
One hour photo shoot at a location of your choice. Before we start the shoot, we will have a chat to discuss what style we want to take and make sure everyone is happy and then see what happens.
Parties and Events
Two hours at a location of your choice. I'll spend time in the environment and capture the life and soul of the party or event.
It also includes a USB with all edited images and 30 4x6 prints of your choice
Corporate Hire
Available for all types of corporate works based on a hourly or day rate.
