What do you love most about your job?
I love creating beautiful garden spaces which bring joy and a sense of tranquility into people's busy lives . I love the process of looking at a space and imagining how it could be transformed by plants and flowers and then getting on with it .
Basically gardening either for myself or other people makes me happy .
What inspired you to start your own business?
I began gardening seriously about 12 years ago , transforming a small, multi tiered neglected space dominated by Leylandii, into a beautiful garden. When the garden opened for charity about 4 years ago, the positive response from visitors was overwhelming and I found I loved talking to people about plants and gardening . Friends started asking me for advice on planting and general gardening and I started to believe I could do this for a living . Feeling I needed more knowledge I trained to RHS level 2 in both theory and practical and started the business.
Doris was my next door neighbour when I was a child , she had the most fantastic, inspirational garden, full of colour , I always felt happy and calm when I was in it . As this how I want people to feel in their garden, Doris's Garden seemed the right choice as a business name .
