We have had three dogs in the past. Never got past Level 1 training classes. Classes were packed and in big facilities, dogs not allowed off leash to socialize, very little, if any, one on one instruction. Totally different experience with Mike. Much smaller group made the training experience beneficialto dogs, as well as their humans. Mike is straight forward and teaches with humor. We plan on attending Level 3. You will become a better dog parent and your dog, a better dog. More...

This is a review for personal training sessions with Mike. I adopted my first dog, Charlie, a very sweet and submissive pit/lab mix. As soon as I got him, he started to become aggressive on leash towards other dogs. It escalated very quickly within a month and then this bad behavior started to spill over into off leash time at the dog park. I knew I was in over my head and started to reach out for help. I went to the SPCA because their classes seemed more affordable. I had used many personal training sessions and religiously went to training classes for both basics and aggression and the only progress we made was in me learning how to hide Charlie from other dogs. I was about 700 in the hole and Charlie had started to become anxious and was not able to enjoy the life he deserved. It was not from a lack of effort, I spent ~3-4 hours a day trying to help him through this. People were starting to tell me that I may just have to accept that Charlie was like this. I refused to allow my dog to live a life full of stress and anxiety so I kept talking to people and asking for guidance. A friend suggested I look into getting help from Mike. At the same time someone at a pet food store bad mouthed him and in the end I was confused and nervous but gave him a call anyway. I want to start by saying that Mike went out of his way to talk to me about what we should do over the phone without trying to charge me or cut me off. He was extremely patient, concerned and kind. He then met me at my home and did a behavioral assessment and gauged Charlie’s sensitivity to commands and corrections. Then in ONE SESSION, taught me how to gently and appropriately correct my dog without hurting him. He made sure that I knew what I was doing and was patient with us both. During that session we met other dogs and Charlie learned not to attack by using gentle. I repeated what Mike did and followed his instructions and now Charlie has done a COMPLETE 180!! He is now happy on and off leash! He is so much more relaxed knowing what is expected of him and it’s amazing to see that the fear and aggression that had built up so quickly instantly vanish with proper training on how to handle him and his fears!! Mike has been such a great teacher and I cannot be happier. Mike is wonderful and caring about dogs and their owners. He really takes time to understand what is going on and make sure that both the pet and the owner know how to deal with whatever the issues are. The freedom I now have to take Charlie everywhere has greatly improved his quality of life!! He gets to enjoy so many more things and I can keep both him and other dogs safe which is the most important. Our training sessions have also helped on so many other areas of obedience and you can see a dramatic increase in Charlie’s happiness. Mike was such a great trainer; I would recommend that if anyone is worried about the slightest thing, they should reach out to him. He is great and you can tell he cares because he never takes advantage or rushes you off the phone or out the door. The best thing is that he went over the logic of what the problems were and how to communicate easily with my dog, so now any dogs I have in the future will be in a better state because now I can be a better owner. Do not hesitate to talk to Mike, he is great and loves to help people and the furry little companions!! More...
