He was a pleasure to work with from the time we first interviewed him until after the final song was played! He met with us on two different occasions to be certain everything was just as we wanted. DJ Wade provided the music and entertainment at our wedding reception - it was awesome!! His song choices were the perfect mix of thoughtful and energizing, and he wove in our suggestions and first dance song perfectly. Our reception venue was unusual in shape, but he was still able to set-up the lights and sound so they filled the space’s odd angles and acoustics. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Every crowd is different, and one tried and true way of keeping the floor packed all night is reading the crowd. Part of that is meeting with my clients before the event to get a feel for their personal style and what makes them get up and dance. We meet and discuss everything from must plays, special dances and also what not to play.
I read your song lists to get an understanding for the genres and decades you are referencing the most and make sure I have my library stocked with the same for any last minute song requests. Finally, the key to pulling it all together is looking up from my player and watching people dance to the songs that are being played.
Seeing smiles on the faces of the happy couple, to the dance circles that form around the talented, to the small children out on the floor standing on the feet of grandparents, these details matter. A DJ must be able to respond quickly to lulls, provide songs for all ages and audiences and interact with the crowd when needed.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I bring a blend of Billboard Top 100 hits along with all the classics from the past 60 years. Having MC'd and hosted over 100 events, the Colorado vibe definitely has an impact on how I approach song selection.
Many clients request EDM mixes, local band songs, collaborations with live musicians and thematic song lists. My favorites are the ones where everyone knows the lyrics to the songs and wants to join in the chorus.
What do you love most about your job?
DJ for me stands for Dream Job.
As part of an events team, my role is to provide the entertainment and guide the timeline through the evening. Successfully executing a wedding, private party or school dance where guests leave with tired feet and smiling faces at the end of the night is an awesome feeling.
Bringing people together to celebrate, dance and sweat all while getting the main milestones of the night completed on time, is a point of pride where everything and anything can go unexpectedly.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Being a mobile DJ allows for maximum flexibility to meet with clients directly, travel to venue locations for a walk through, and customize my services to any size event. With so many unique clients and party ideas, being an business owner lets me adapt to each situation and provide a level of quality service that begs for an encore.
Why should our clients choose you?
There is more to being a DJ than knowing what songs to play, or even knowing how to mix the songs together. Event coordination with your other vendors, time management to stay on the schedule of events and providing an MC role are the extra bits that make for a complete package. I work with photographers to ensure they know when prime photo ops are coming with song selections and provide direction for others when needed.
Along with providing great music, I am punctual, professionally dressed, organized and easy to approach. My main goal is to provide you with a service that is easy to say yes to.
