Being apart of Fingersnaps  and having the pleasure of Dj Lamont being my mentor has been rewarding. We started out when I had no experience at all, I just knew I loved music and wanted to dive deeper into it. Dj Lamont asked me what I wanted out of this experience, and I specifically said that I wanted to be able to impact and play for my community, local events, and anyone else who feels drawn to my style. Proudly to say with only 1 year of knowledge and practice, Dj Lamont paved the way for my personal journey. I continue to practice on my own time, and I've already had a few gigs this year alone. I'm excited for the journey and I feel that if you have the slightest interest, want to develop more skill, or truly become a professional Dj, Fingersnaps is a great resource and start. Dj Lamont takes the time to carefully build you up, and critique you at the same time. He is honest and so helpful with everything he explains and shows you. If you've ever wondered what if, go talk to DJ Lamont. I've always had a love for music and wanted to get more involved but never took the leap. I watched some videos on YouTube on how to DJ, but that only gets you so far. I signed up for the introductory class to test the waters and never looked back.Lamont is a great teacher who takes you through the equipment, software, techniques, music theory and more to help you become a confident new DJ. He knows his stuff and his experience and knowledge speaks for itself during the lessons. You'll be surprised at your progress after a few sessions and find yourself counting beats while listening to songs. Music gets even more exciting!Thanks to Lamont I've deejayed at a couple street fairs, outside fingersnaps studio in the mission (which landed me a gig) and most recently at Pride in SF.Ask around chances are a DJ you know or heard was once a student of Lamont's. If you're at all interested in DJ-ing, take lessons with DJ Lamont. Sure, you can learn some things off YouTube, but what I gained from Lamont was more than just skills--it was a deeper respect for the art and firsthand knowledge about the technology and professionalism needed to succeed.
