We hired DJ Purplehayes to get our wedding guests dancing all night long and he definitely delivered! Pete was an absolute gent, he mixed a perfect playlist for the night and had everyone going from the first song right through to the last. Not only that, he also tracked down our obscure first dance song without a word - nothing was too much. We could not have wished for a better DJ and would recommend Pete to anyone and everyone! Needed a DJ at relatively short notice when prior arrangements for my 50th went TU. No stress. Pete was reliable and on the ball. All he needed was power... He arrived in good time and got set up quietly with no fuss - then "blam" Music started and we danced until our feet hurt. It was like Clark Kent turning into Superman! Great night! What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
All parties are different so I never play from set lists, I always try to go into each gig with an open mind and try to read the crowd and play whatever feels right in the moment.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I'm a good all-rounder. I like to keep the music cool but have fun with it too. A satisfied customer recently described me as "like Clark Kent turning into Superman." Gotta love that :D
What do you love most about your job?
Nothing beats that great feeling at the end of a gig when you're getting praise and handshakes and pats on the back :D
What inspired you to start your own business?
Love for music. My dad and my uncle were DJs back in the 80s so I went to a lot of gigs from an early age. My cousins DJ, my son too - I guess you could say it's in the blood. I'm a real music enthusiast, I like 50s do-wop, 60s rock n roll, 70s soul, 80s groove, 90s indie, 00s dance, 10s house and all sorts in between - I was always the guy who wanted to select the music at parties, who stopped people and said you've got to listen to this. I do it because I love it!
