Working with DJ Demby was so much fun from the start. Our wedding reception was pretty nontraditional, think a DIY backyard affair with inflatable dinosaurs. I was nervous that most DJ's would balk at the idea of doing a backyard wedding reception, but DJ Demby made it feel like we had the most bumping club under our gazebo! That says a lot about his skill and professionalism. He was incredibly flexible and offered helpful suggestions as to how to keep the party going. We had a wide demographic of musical tastes at our reception, and he did a seamless job or catering to everyone. Plus, I LOVED his music transitions! I never felt like the music was out of place or jarring. It all flowed together beautifully. DJ Demby was so intuitive and matched the energy of the party as it progressed through the evening. Our guests loved him and kept talking about his music at brunch the next day. I definitely recommend adding the lights and subwoofer to your package, they definitely make a difference and give you the extra party vibe. I booked DJ Demby for my daughters Bat Mitzvah. In the planning stage we had multiple conversations, and he was very helpful with timeline suggestions or advice on the party ideas (i. e. how a bunch of 12-year-olds may behave in a particular situation, which will prevent you from making some bad decisions). He was very accommodating with last minute changes and wishes from either me or my daughter, whose input Michael took very seriously, and she really appreciated it. The party itself was awesome. We had about 50 sort of shy pre-teens at the first Bat Mitzvah in the class, and then some more kids of different ages. Not an easy crowd to entertain. DJ Demby did a great job keeping them engaged with all sorts of games, contests and dances (with his awesome dancer, to whom I also give a lot of credit). He accommodated multiple requests and last minute ideas. Everyone had a great time,The Bat Mitzvah girl felt super special and he made it happen. I highly recommend him for your DJ needs, and I know that next time I'm in a "need to get a DJ" situation I will be calling Michael Demby. Thank you again!!! More...

I had the pleasure of watching DJ Mike Demby lead an awesome Bat Mitzvah in Brooklyn this past Sunday. His timing was impeccable, music was eclectic and energizing, and the guests didn't want to leave! I overheard several attendees mention his great work and the parents guaranteed to use his services for their younger children. The venue layout had several levels and rooms so I was very impressed with DJ Mike Demby's ability to work the crowd and get everyone involved. Michael was a fantastic addition to our wedding. We sent him a list of our favorite artists and tracks, and he very diligently played all of our favorites. There was no cheesyness! No "my taste is better than yours". Just straightforward and thoughtful arrangements. He regularly checked with us about the sound level and adjusted according to our taste. He kept us on track with timing, and made announcements as needed. He took song requests from my guests -- but also checked with me to make sure it was something I was comfortable hearing, which was extremely thoughtful and much appreciated. I highly recommend him! DJ Michael Demby was the DJ at our wedding in Manhattan. He did a great job with announcements and music, and definitely kept the dance floor moving.
He made sure to incorporate all of our requested songs. I asked for more oldies/classic rock with some pop and he had a great mix of music. We received compliments on his skills all night!
He was also very responsive to our emails, dealt with all last-minute changes, and was a very reasonable price.

We cannot say enough about DJ Michael Demby. I have personally been to parties he has hosted for thousands in NYC and have known him for many years now. We were thrilled when he agreed to DJ our wedding in Maplewood. He brought the same level of energy and professionalism that he is famous for, and was surprisingly reasonably priced. He seamlessly transitioned our wedding from ceremony, to cocktail hour, to reception. Admittedly we were not the easiest group to work with, with very unique and eclectic tastes. Many of our requests were local and lesser known artists, which he was able to skillfully mix in to the classics and more popular music enjoyed by all generations. Our friends are not exactly known for their dancing but somehow Mike made it happen. The playlist was ordered perfectly to match the timeline of the evening and his announcements and shoutouts got everyone out of their seats! What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
No matter the event, noticing the subtle details in how people react to my music is the most critical piece for a successful transition through each phase of the evening.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I'm like a cartoon character in the real world where empathy drives my desire to see smiles!
Since 1998, I have been a DJ/entertainer and additionally host trivia and karaoke events. I've worked hard at developing a polished and understated approach, while providing a professional “cheese-free” method to announcements and MC work.
My performances are at private events where I am given the privilege to provide music at weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthday parties, corporate events, and more, and can comfortably bounce from retro classics to today's top hits in pop, hip-hop, rock, house, reggae, disco, or whatever will keep guests dancing.
Influence comes from so many different places, but most specifically, those with whom I've worked in the past as well as my family and friends, all whose love of music has always drawn positive attention from anyone around to hear it.
What do you love most about your job?
Bringing people together in a welcoming atmosphere.
I also want people to feel relaxed and comfortable, knowing that I love working with each client to truly personalize every aspect for one of the greatest day in their life.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The drive behind what I do can be summed up by the special feeling I get when clients realize that their event is going to be fun, unique, and different. I have received some of the most touching words of thanks and detailed insight about why my DJ services were chosen out of so many other great options.
Why should our clients choose you?
At first glance, I may seem like just another average DJ. What they might not realize, because of my experience, I take all of the little details with the utmost seriousness and pay close attention to the needs of my clients. From the very first contact to their big day, I am with them every step of the way.

Yes, I can offer group sessions for Karaoke, dance parties, trivia, and performance streaming. This can be done over Zoom or other streaming services.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I comply with the local restrictions and do my best to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for my clients. This includes maintaining a clean microphone, mask on during my events, and keeping a comfortable distance from others.
