I recently booked Johnny for a family event and he nailed it. Johnny played the music I asked him to play. He was transparent about his pricing. Â I spoke with a few references and all said the same thing. Johnny is awesome, trustworthy and he knows his music. He showed up on on time to set up, got a feel for the sound environment, and played the entire night. Â The most important thing is the music though. After all, we hire DJ's to play music. Johnny is a musical talent. He blended the right mix of hip hop, house, 80's, 90's. Â He had "older" members of my family dancing as well as the kids. And get this..he can ACTUALLY mix records together. That is rare for a DJ playing events these days. I HIGHLY recommend Johnny. Easy to work with and a great DJ. More...

Johnny did our 50th Class Reunion and he was magical with our group. Knew the music of our era, played all the requests, was opened to on the spot requests. WE LOVED HIM!! I've seen Johnny perform at quite a few different types of venues and parties and should've written my 5-star review sooner because it's well-deserved. From DJ'ing nightclubs to lounges to weddings to children's parties...he has it all. He just entertained last weekend at a children's birthday party and entertained all the kids and got them to dance to the music. It looked like everybody was having a great time, including the adults. However, Johnny doesn't just DJ and entertain for children's parties; he did an awesome job at a New Year's Eve party at a restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles and continues to get the crowd going at Hotel Irvine. He adapts to the audience and environment, and that is crucial for every DJ. Johnny knows how to get the party started, keep the party going, and he works very well with his clients and the crowd. Johnny did an amazing job at my 1930s era Masquerade Party. He was very professional and personable. The music was correct for the 1930s theme.
His equipment is very high end and the sound was flawless. He was able to adapt easily to my guests request without a glitch. His reporter of music is vast - Even some the men who rarely dance, were dancing. Everybody had a wonderful time laughing and engaging. This was not only a memorable birthday for me but for all who attended. I highly recommend Johnny.

Johnny is AWESOME -- hire him for your wedding or event! He is very responsive over email & phone, works with you to play the music you like (and his music tastes are also on point), and comes at a great price!
He did a great job DJ'ing our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception -- I very highly recommend him.
Thanks again, Johnny -- everyone is still raving about our awesome wedding and what a fun party it was!! The crowd was up and dancing during dinner, and the party never stopped until midnight! Such a great time!

I've been booking Johnny Hawkes for almost 10 years now and there aren't enough superlatives to describe just how good he in all aspects of his business. Â I was the Regional Event Manager for Playboy Golf for almost a decade and Johnny was my main DJ for the entire run. Â He headlined all of the Playboy Golf tournaments which were filled with Hollywood celebrities and professional athletes, and of course he also performed at our parties at the Playboy Mansion.What stands out most about Johnny is his professionalism along with the obvious preparation he puts into his performances. I am always looking for new experiences and opportunities with new clients. Over the last 18 years, I have been an in-demand DJ for corporate events, private events, weddings, birthdays, movie premieres, award shows, openings of upscale businesses and restaurants, and Hollywood nightclubs in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and globally.
