Devon Photography Training Q&A

Company Q&A

What do you love most about your job?

I love sharing my knowledge with others and bringing inspiration to those who haven't yet found their creative outlet.
I believe that life is too short to not do what you love and that with a little push in the right direction many people will see the opportunity in the creative skills they possess.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I love creating photographs, inspiring people and learning in general so it was a natural progression into teaching for me.
As a member of the guild of photographers I regularly enter their image of the month competition to keep my photography to a high standard. I'm also a working professional photographer so I practice what I preach.

Why should our clients choose you?

My aim is to inspire you and help you along in your Photography journey as much as you feel you need me. I provide thorough and concise consultations on the business and aesthetic side of Photography, we can hold a one off session, set up regular support sessions until you have gained your confidence or even just hold a quick phone call session as and when you need it.
Here are the areas of business that I can help new and improving professional photographers get a handle on:
Selling your work
Writing a Business Plan
General Professional Practice
Making the most of your time
Creating Professional Contacts
Approaching Potential Customers
Figuring out your Target Audience
Creating a Safe Working Environment
Building an Online and an Offline Presence
Charging Appropriately for a viable business
How to Maintain Excellent Customer Service
Creating Efficient Workflows within your Business
Contracts, Licensing and Other Important Paperwork

How to Build, Maintain and Optimise your own Portfolio Website without Breaking the Bank
For Hobbyists, some examples of sessions you can take are:
How to use your camera
Studio lighting sessions (multiple options)
Photoshop and Lightroom Tuition
Posing people
How to analyse your work
How to take better holiday photos
How to take better family photos
and so much more
Session Format:
Sessions can be held over Skype for those who aren't local to the South West of England.
1-2-1 sessions at either my Exeter or Holsworthy Studios are also an option or I can come to your home or studio and work with you in your own space, which, if an option would need to be a fairly quiet space with minimal distractions.
There is so much more that I can cover with you so if you have any specific needs please do get in touch.
Cost of Tuition Sessions
Skype or phone call sessions are £20 for up to an hour, evening and weekend slots are available as well as daytime sessions.
1-2-1 sessions are £85 for three hours. Sessions at your home/studio may incur a fuel charge depending on your location.
Included in your session fee are worksheets so you can continue to progress once our session has ended.
You will also get personalised tuition to cover exactly what you need depending on your type of business. Sessions are flexible, relaxed and taught at your pace, please let me know if you have any learning difficulties or disabilities so I can accomodate for this in my session plans.
My Education:
I have studied Photography for 10 years and have gained a Triple Distinction in a BND Photography BTEC course plus a Certificate in Higher Education in Commercial Photography from the Arts University College at Bournemouth (AUCB) in 2010.
I've also gained qualifications in Law, Sociology, Psychology, Business and Education and Training. I enjoy learning new things and improving my skill bases so I can share my knowledge with others and bring inspiration to those who haven't yet found their creative outlet,
Photographers who are signed up to the mailing list on our website get first refusal on spaces, which often sell out quickly. If you would like to be notified of these sessions, sign up to our mailing list today.
