ATTENTION ANYONE looking for a TRAINER in Kitchener!


My name is Coach Kennedy and I'm a 26-year veteran of the fitness industry with a thirst for knowledge and a passion for teaching and running 1 on 1 Mentorships.

Before pursuing the role of fitness educator, I occupied the positions of personal trainer, sport conditioning coach and personal trainer manager.

I’m a three-time recipient of the canfitpro PRO TRAINER of the year award, co-founder of the CFEA-Canadian Fitness Education Alliance and master instructor/trainer for various industry companies including COREFX, Triggerpoint Performance Therapy, ATS Certifications and EBFA (The Education Based Fitness Academy).

Why am I telling you this? Because I wanted to be sure that you realize who I am and what I do before I told you about Derek. I wanted my credentials if you will, to hold water.

I've meet 1000's and taught to over 2500 trainers and coaches in the industry. ONLY a small few take the time to continue to educate themselves as Derek has done! His constant commitment and hard work is bar none one of the best I've seen! This is the trainer of trainers! This guy NEVER stops, is always looking for better ways to improve his clients experience with his contining education!

My husband and I have both worked with Derek before and loved it. We found his approach to each of us (at different "fit" levels) challenging but perfect for what we needed. I had been training for a few years before meeting Derek and thought I had it all figured out... I was wrong.
From the moment I met him Derek's went to Great lengths to help me see, and reach, my full potential. He puts all of his heart into his clients. He was as excited about my triumphs as I was and was there for me far beyond what's expected from a trainer.

Derek has been my trainer for very close to one year now and has been absolutely instrumental in most of the positive changes in my life during that time. His instruction and guidance for strengthening my body has helped make me far more resilient to injury which has allowed me to confidently tackle my next goals of burning off the fat and gaining lean muscle mass. He's guided me through numerous obstacles during that time including stress and time management, motivation, and dietary issues that come with having a first child, changing careers, being dangerously overweight and getting older.
Though there have been many self-imposed minor setbacks like minor injuries, lack of will power/breaking old habits, scheduling issues and beating myself up he has kept me calmly (for the most part!) and confidently moving forward towards what I feel is a better me. "The only way you can fail is if you give up."
I have all the confidence in the world that if he can help a guy like me through what we've gone through in the past year he can surely help you achieve your personal and fitness goals. If you're reading this and wondering whether he can help you too, do yourself a favour, get off your ass and call this guy! It's one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

Derek is an excellent trainer and his knowledge and skill goes way beyond. He understands the anatomy and physiology of the body very well so he knows how to figure out when something isn’t working the way it should. I have had ankle and hip issues when I exercise and he did a great job correcting these issues and showing me exercises that would help. Among the things I’ve really appreciated about Derek's guidance these last three months (as I've dropped 30+ pounds and 26+ inches are the ways in which he manages to both urge me to push myself to do more than I may think I can and stay positive around my need to adapt some exercises because of my physical limitations. I think this simultaneous push and encouragement has helped me feel that I can try exercises I once thought were beyond my reach and build toward those that still really are beyond me. I think it’s hard for young trainers or trainers who’ve never dealt with a chronic health issue to understand how to support those of us who have. It’s easy to assume that the chronic issue (so often invisible to the trainer’s eye) is an imaginary one. Derek has never gone there in his interactions with me and that has made a world of difference to my ability both to go hard in the gym and to stick with Derek's transformation program as a whole. Derek made a real effort to provide alternatives to high impact exercises and his suggestions, I have found, have actually helped me improve to the point where I can now do some of the higher impact work with less pain or fear of falling. I have tried many times in the past to lose weight/ get in better shape on my own with minimal success. I’m just 3 months of working with Derek I’ve already reached my initial goal of losing 20lbs, have at least doubled the amount of weight I can lift on most exercises and have gained so much confidence at the gym. He has supported me and kept me in check through both in person sessions and email/text conversations. I can’t wait to see what the next three months bring!! Highly recommend him :) More...
