I was having a wedding dress made overseas and was looking for a tailors who would take my measurements so I could send them off. Most tailors turned me away, but the staff at Design & Alter were brilliant. They worked through all the notes sent to me by the dressmaker and measured me top to bottom. When the dress came it fit almost perfectly, requiring only one zip alteration, which Design & Alter performed at a very reasonable price. They also recommended instead of getting my skirts taken up to purchase taller shoes, saying it would save me money on the alterations, and I appreciated this honesty when they could have just gone ahead and charged me for a more costly alteration. I am so pleased I chose Design & Alter to do my wedding dress alterations. I’d heard great things about them and therefore committed to the long drive from Devon (where I live) to London for every fitting and it was completely worth it. Eva was extremely professional and made me feel very comfortable - I was always so well looked after by all the staff whilst I was there. It was great to meet Martina and also get her feedback as she saw the alterations. I left every time trusting that they shared my vision for the dress and felt relaxed and confident that what we had discussed would be delivered to the very highest standard. I was always excited to try it back on and see how far it had come. The tailors did a beautiful job and it fits like a glove - I absolutely love it. Eva also gave us instructions on what to do on the day which was very helpful as I had no idea! It is difficult for me to buy clothes from the peg. Finding clothes which fits me well seems difficult and therefore I have used design and alter mostly for my more formal clothes I need to wear for work. Fantastic service. I live mainly overseas, and only found my wedding dress a month before my wedding so could only come in twice (! ). Bride & Alter managed to fit me in for my first appointment with one day notice! As the appointment itself was pretty quick (only two areas of the dress needed alterations) they also waived the appointment fee. The dress came back looking great, alterations completely invisible, and fitting perfectly. The price I paid seemed very reasonable for the work. I had my bridal jumpsuit with overskirt and cape made from scratch and my mother's wedding dress altered and fitted at Bride&Alter in the first half of this year. I could not have been more pleased with their professionalism, their highest level tailoring skills, knowledge around material and general friendliness and kindness. The Bride&Alter team was most diligent and delivered 100% on what they have promised in the exact timeline they have estimated during the first consultation. I just want to thank Design and Alter especially Temi for altering my wedding dress! I can’t thank you enough! I was sceptical of how the alterations would look like. I was so happy with the changes and it looked better than when I had bought it. The team was very accommodating. I was on a diet and they waited for me to loose weigh before altering the dress. They answered all my questions. Explained everything to me and the price was excellent considering how much alterations had taken place. It was easy to get an appointment and the staff was very nice. I went to have an extra fastening on a top and to have a dress lengthened which required an extra piece of fabric. Both were done well by Temi and I was pleased with the result. The fitting rooms are clean and pleasant and the service is not rushed. I think if you generally have smaller alterations done at a local tailor or dry cleaners then design and alter may seem expensive, but for more complicated alterations or a special item, I think it is worth coming here. Thanks to the most amazing and genuinely caring team at Design&Alter my dress was made perfect! They ladies did an amazing job in a very short amount of time only 1 week before my wedding. If it was not for their caring nature and understanding of a difficult situation my day would certainly not have been the same!

My perfect day was so cheaply ripped away by one click of a button. I thought I would save money by buying my dress online but that cheap dress has been more expensive than going to a shop or dress makes and getting the perfect one first time. The Internet can't say what a person can. And the allure of saving money blind sighted me into now paying over my budget just for alterations on my internet savings.

I really have no words of how amazing the dress was after the adulterations, all I could do was cry. The ladies are miracle workers and I thank them every day for fixing my mistake of picking a dress off online. Thank you Design&Alter for everything. More...

I had a great experience with Design and Alter, who shortened a very long jumpsuit for me. I met Eva who showed me upstairs to the changing rooms, which are all large and well lit with large mirrors. I put my jumpsuit on and Eva was helpful in giving her professional opinion on the right length; I took her advice and I’m so glad I did as the result made my legs look longer. The alterations took 3 days which I was very pleased with, although I was advised by Lorraine that they often do alterations even quicker than this if somebody has a particularly short deadline. When I went back to collect my jumpsuit I tried it on again and was delighted with the results, it had been done just as planned and was also pressed and protected. I cannot recommend Temi at Bride + Alter highly enough! There was an awful lot of work to be done on my beautiful Charlie Brear wedding dress - including practically taking the intricate top half down by two dress sizes - but she did the most *magical* job. The dress looked and felt utterly amazing on the day, and I received so many compliments not only about how stunning the dress was, but also about how perfectly it fit me - all thanks to Temi!
