This is our second favourite Indian restaurant in Burnaby, and is closer to our place than Saffron, which is our absolute favourite. The food here is good, but flavour profiles not as developed as at Saffron, but definitely a good runner-up. They also offer Groupons, so you can give it a try and save some cash. We typically get butter chicken, mutter paneer, and chicken pakoras, and all are good. Didn't care for the flavour of their samosas as there's a bit more fennel seeds than I care for. The lunch buffet was great and has a good variety of food. The environment was clean and quiet except for the mantra music in the background. My only complaint is that there wasn't much to offer for drinks and there was no dessert! The curry and masala was amazing though! Oh and the okra was just fantasticly done. Will come again. More...

Office Lunch - When our CEO visits from UK, he buys us lunch (YAY!) His choice is most often Indian. We tried Desi Turka after a bit of research of nearby Indian Restaurants. We were not disappointed by trying them! They were accommodating (we didn't give a lot of notice); helpful (carried everything out to our car); generous (gave us a complimentary appetizer tray); and most importantly... the food was delicious!! I will certainly encourage the choice to be Indian Food again for his next visit, and will most definitely order from Desi Turka again! More...

Went to this Indian food gem for a family dinner. Our host was very polite and helpful to make sitting arrangements for us. We were served in very timely manner and their service was as great as their food. We felt like eating at home. All the dishes were cooked to perfection with accurate amount of spices. We had Mogo, Shahi paneer and chicken chettinad mainly and few more dishes.Serving staff was very professional. Must recommend this place for family gatherings or dinners. Good food and good portions. However, I took my son for lunch and was not able to use the groupon for the buffet. Had to order a la carte as the lunch specials in the menu were not available and ended up spending twice as much as the buffet special. Server was not familiar with serving sizes, so we ended up ordering twice as much rice as we needed. Would go again for the lunch buffet but would not bother with Groupon. More...

This restaurant is located at the corner of 12th Ave and 6th street in New West. It has a sign outside saying under new management. This is my second time back for their lunch buffet! The buffet price is very reasonable at $10.95. Can't be beat! Lots of varieties, plus including tea you can grab for yourselves. Food is fresh and naan bread is served hot which you dip in the sauces from your dishes! So delish!! Service is excellent, the server was always attentive; making sure your have water in your glass, and that your food tasted great. I think the location is not the best and therefore it's kind of hidden, but if you are around there make sure you give it a try! You won't be disappointed! More...

Deepak the owner is very friendly. The lunch special is a great deal for what you get and he makes amazing food I often take my staff here for their birthday lunch and treat myself here for my lunch. I have noticed sometimes the restaurant is not open on time and the buffet is not set up when the time says it's supposed to be. Sometimes some of the waitresses or waiters are not ensuring that the candles are lit under the buffet to ensure the food stays hot. However when Deepak is there service is always great and food is always fresh he is always checking on the customers and always ensuring they have enough free nan with their Buffet and enough water and drinks. I have never felt rushed or not wanted in his restaurant. A shout out to deepak for the great service and hopefully his employees can learn from him.
