I've been learning piano with the music school for several years now. When I first started I couldn't read music and as I am a pensioner was very apprehensive about starting lessons so late in life . My daughter loves her lessons here, she is only 5yrs but has already learnt to play several two handed piano songs.

Thanks for all your help. I have some basic knowledge of guitar and had been teaching my son how to play. However we both got to a stage where we couldn't progress. We both booked in for lessons and I soon realised that I had picked up a lot of bad techniques from trying to teach myself. The teacher sorted out all the problems and now me and my son are progressing really well. Excellent place to learn a musical instrument.
All the teachers are fully qualified and of the highest standard, the lessons are well run and offer excellent value for money. They put on regular concerts for pupils to gain valuable performance experience. All in all I would recommend his place to my family & friends.

My son has piano lessons at this music school and my daughter has singing lessons. The lessons are excellent. When we were looking for a music teacher we found it quite difficult to get a good reputable one. We did try a few others (mainly private teachers in their home). When we first tried Derby School of Music we found the teachers very friendly and clearly very knowledgeable on their instruments. I've been having lessons here for some time now and have been working towards my ABRSM diploma in piano. When I was looking for a teacher many private 'piano teachers' were telling me they could only teach up to grade 5, I found the reason was that they were effectively only amateurs themselves, with only a grade 8 to their name. My teacher here is amazing and has given me the confidence and technical knowledge I needed to pass my exam easily. Certainly the best music school in Derby.The guitar lessons are amazing. The guitar teacher is very easy to get on with and makes the lessons interesting and enjoyable. I know they also teach other instruments such as piano and singing.
