What makes a great website?
A happy user makes a great website. Let's face it, we've all been there - to a website that sells what you are looking for but you choose not to buy from that website because there's something that doesn't sit well with you. It might be the layout, it could have been difficult to find what you were looking for; so you gave up. Or was it the shopping cart and checkout processes that were too difficult? Maybe the site just didn't work on mobile.
No matter what you sell, what service you provide, if the user cannot work their way around your website, they will leave; and that will cost you. We make sure that doesn't happen.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
"What's your story?" - That is our first question to every new client. Being brand storytellers we know how important it is for our clients to connect with their audience. By understanding the story behind what they do, we can mould their marketing activity into an authentic story that gets results.
Describe your creative process.
Our creative process starts with the client and their business. We have a philosophy - Direction Through Understanding - and that means we look to fully understand a clients' business and their customer/audience and industry. Armed with this information we can start to understand business objectives and marketing needs. Only then do we have a clear direction on how best to produce creative work that will cut through a crowded market and hit your target market with high impact brand messaging.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
We understand that sometimes clients don't have all the information to a particular project and look to the designers to offer guidance. We take an initial enquiry and then discuss what is required, how we can achieve the best results for the budget and look at the time frame of the project in real time. Finding out more about the clients business and their story helps us to produce the best work we possibly can.
What do you love most about your job?
This isn't a job for us. We are lucky enough to come to the studio and do what we love! It's no cliché either. When you see the enthusiasm we have to provide a creative service; one that delivers a return on investment, that's when our clients realise that we really do love what we do. Always learning, trying out new (sometimes daring) ideas for our clients. It's our creativity that puts our clients in the minds of their audience.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to provide the skills and the creative service to businesses in my own unique way. We want to educate our clients about branding and what it's all about, so they can be armed with knowledge to move it all forward and reap the benefits.
