Met some friends here on a Friday night for dinner. Seems like the typical BBQ place anymore, and they do have good food. They had a few draft beers available, and a few more in bottle . But if you want wine....they only have a couple of the little individual serve bottles. We opted for the Devil's Backbone and Bold Rock cider. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the cuban with pork. Mine was basically just a "smashed" version of hers....on the same bun. It tasted good, but on the next visit I'll opt for the sandwich. They have a great variety of sides, and we opted for the jalapeno mac n cheese and the potato salad. Both were very good. Stopped in before a VCU basketball game. We tried to get into Asado but they were packed out the door. This place was empty, I'm guessing because they don't serve alcohol. The food was very good. I tried a little bit of everything. The wings were my favorite. I definitely recommend this place!! Their shredded pork sandwich is 10/10 but it does not come with bbq sauce on it, you put it on yourself, or I guess you can ask them to put it on for you. Their mac n cheese was good, I've had better but it is still worth a try. Their cornbread was good but it was slightly dry. I have exactly zero negative things to say about this place. I'm always suspicious of a Texan BBQ place in VA, but this place nailed it. It took all my self control to not actually moan while eating a perfectly cooked brisket. It's the kind of food you chew slowly because the flavor should be fully appreciated. Deep Run Roadhouse the food was freaking AMAZING! We are a little out of the way to do the full service staffed wedding, they hooked us up with an extremely professional staffing service. During our wedding I was being the social butterfly I am and didn’t have the chance to sit down, the staff brought it to my table and I was able to enjoy the most DELICIOUS food. It was better than I remembered at our tasting. Everyone lovedddd the mashed potato bar, and Mac and cheese, which I was filling up on the pulled chicken. So many people came up to me, or have texted me days later asking who catered my wedding!!! After the drunken dancing, our food was the most talked about part of the wedding!!! We had them cater a rehearsal dinner at our residence. Serving utensils came with the food which made things so convenient. Loved that the sauces were already in squirt bottles, as well. This place is AWESOME! All the food is so delicious! They have this bowl of yumminess half price on Wednesday’s. The only thing I don’t like is their bread( rolls) they sell for . 50 cents each it’s dry and I have found better bread to use with their amazing barbecue. How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
We honestly like the customer to choose their menu items, that is perfection!
What do you love most about your job?
The Feedback! There are very few jobs that are as rewarding as cooking for people. The positive feedback we receive makes the long hours and meticulous attention to details worth it. Sounds weird, but we actually like the constructive feedback even more. As a company we learn from every experience. We take all criticism to heart and truly evaluate what we can do better next time.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The owner Paul Hubbard has been a chef in Richmond for almost 20 years. With a fine dining background he took his skills to preparing BBQ. He has owned BBQ restaurants for the past 10 years and has thousands of catered events under his belt. Everything he cooks is meticulously prepared with the best ingredients as fresh as possible. Paul Hubbard took culinary arts classes in high school. He fell in love with the industry immediately and started taking it very seriously from the beginning. He became an executive chef at 21 and opened his first BBQ restaurant at 26, the rest is history!
