Dan fixed my roof.I have had a leak for years in my roof that was flowing into my bathroom through the ceiling every time it would rain. I have had three different "roofing experts" out to fix it to no avail. On Saturday the rain started and the leak began pouring water into my bathroom. In a panic I called Dan. Within an hour he was at my house on the roof and patched the leak. He came back and permanently fixed the leak Monday. I used this service in May when I moved into a new studio in the Haight. I had a bunch of furniture that needed to be put together such as a couch and a desk and I wanted to install some room-darkening curtains. He did a great job, and even went above and beyond to go to his truck and saw off a piece of the curtain rod since the rod I bought was slightly too big for the wall. Dan and his team helped us with a fairly extensive bathroom remodel.  They were professional, comprehensive, friendly, and worked closely with us on every part of the project.  They addressed any minor issues right away.   And the price was very fair for the work they did.  We've used them on a repainting project as well, and won't hesitate to use them in the future.  It's good to have people like this in the city who just do the job right without any fuss. I've used Dan's service twice so far, and will have no hesitation to call him again. I like to do my own home improvements, but have an injury which limits my ability to do so. I found him here on Yelp, and am very glad I did.He is easy to contact, reliably shows up ready to work, he's fast, and personable. He takes my input into account, and knows what he's doing. We wall mounted a 47" TV along with the equipment shelves. One of the shelves turned out upside down, but he fixed it in a jiffy without complaint. Then he mounted book and knick-knack shelves. I was in the middle of refinancing my house when the bank decided to throw me a curveball: I had a weekend to get my wooden railings replaced. So off to yelp I go and I searched for a handyman around the Daly City area. One by one, I called each handyman in my search results starting from the top. It was such a small job, most of them did not want to take it. I had one handyman say he would give me a call back because he was busy but never did. It was frustrating. An hour later I finally found Dan's ad at the bottom of Yelp's page and I was glad I did.Dan was very patient and professional over the phone and told me he can fit me into his schedule on the same day! He showed up on time, brought all his own tools, and completed the job in less than two hours! What impresssed me the most was his attention to detail and knowledge. In addition, he also helped me patch up a big hole in my wall and remove my old satellite dish from the roof. I hired Dan to do some work at my office and he did a phenomenal job!! The office needed an overall spruce up including: Touch-up paint, hanging of photos/white boards, removing a broken water heater and a list of other random projects. Dan was great -- he came twice to help us get through our long-lingering to-do list.  He was  easy to have around the house, efficient with his time, and helpful in making suggestions as to how to fix things right.  He assembled and hung a pot rack, removed a wall hanging TV, and patched and painted a bunch of dings that we have collected on our walls over the years.  He also managed to fix a dresser for us.  I would definitely call him again -- I'm sure I will soon. Happy to give a five star review to Dan Can Handyman Services. We were expecting a new baby when I contacted Dan Can to help devise a hoist to be able to bring cargo from the street to our third floor flat. He personally came and visited the house and helped design a custom pulley hoist to solve our dilemma. We provided him with rough drawings and a  wooden prototype and he had a heavy duty steel hoist custom fabricated in two weeks and installed in an hour. Now that we have had the baby it is a godsend. We have over 50 stairs to get up to our flat and now we can just lower a line and hoist our groceries or other gear up and down instead of luggin it up and down. Thank you X 10! I hired Dan to stain our outside deck, which was looking pretty ratty after the fog and rain had had a year to seep through it. We made an appointment for 9am - I was expecting Dan to come alone and maybe take the whole day to work. Instead, I got 3 dudes who looked like former linebackers come in at 8:50 (10 minutes early! What!) and begin blasting away with power washers, sanders and wood stain. They never stopped, and never asked for tools or had to run to the hardware store the way I've seen other handyman outfits do. The entire job was done in about 3 hours with zero drama. The only time the men stuck their head into the house was to tell me the deck was done, and not to step out on it till the next day. When I mentioned my surprise that they were done so soon, one of them smiled and said, "That's how we roll." Well, damn - I wish more people would roll that quickly!The deck looks great and has stood up not just to the weather but to the hyperactive, scratch-happy boxer pup we've since adopted.Dan is not the cheapest handyman out there, but he is certainly one of the best. I recently used Dan's services and was not at all disappointed!  He was GREAT!  I had a list of things to be done around the house and he completed every one of them in two hours!  We were in the process of converting my son's toddler bed to a big boy bed and needed Dan to assemble the new bed.  If anyone has done this, you know it can be challenging.  Dan completed the job just in time for the new mattress arrival.  He was prompt, professional and easy to work with.  He even came back within a hour after leaving because I had screwed up some of his work.  He is AWESOME!  If you need handyman work, can Dan! I found HandyDan on the Diamond-certified site and I couldn't be happier with this company's work. They were very punctual for both the estimate and work appointments, pleasant, and did an excellent job. I had a 100 lb mirror installed in my living room. It was a not a typical wall because it was drywall and steel. My garbage disposal also broke. They took care of both issues in half an hour and reimbursed me for the time not used, as well as coached me on how to use fix the garbage disposal myself in the future. Highly recommended. More...

I had HandyDan put up a fairly heavy vintage brass and crystal chandelier and ceiling medallion in my bedroom and install some shelves in my kitchen and was extremely happy with the work that he did.  He showed up on time, was very pleasant, worked efficiently and his rates were reasonable.  Based upon my experience, I would definitely hire him again and would even consider using him for a bigger project, such as a bathroom, which he also does. This review is long overdue -- I used HandyDan in my rental unit.  The tenants had a host of little problems in the loft I rent out and Handy Dan was able to fix everything quickly and efficiently.  They even cleaned the celing fan that is 22ft in the air!  If you're the type of person that just doesn't have time to fix all those little pesky problems (garbage disposal, broken wardrobe bar, dead light bulb in a light fixture you have no idea how to pry open without breaking it) they can do it.  Angel was great when he came to fix my long list of items and my tenants were happy.  Highly recommend! We had a horribly installed dryer vent that needed to be fixed.  I called these guys up and they came out the next day.  The two gentlemen that came were professional and had no qualms about climbing up in the attic of our hundred-year old building, swimming around in the insulation up there, and fixing the vent.  We had a great experience and would definitely use them again.When I paid by check, I apologized to the guys because I did not have cash to give them a little something extra...one of the workers responded, "don't worry, just think of us next time you need something done."  It doesn't get any better than that. We've had Dan and/ or his staff over to do work at the house 4 times for a variety of projects.  Each time they were professional, friendly, honest, and knowledgeable.  We had used some other services that we found on C.L. in the past and had some very bad experiences; I guess anyone can call themselves a handyman and charge you to tinker around in the garage while muttering and trying to look busy.  Dan and his staff are contractors and actually know how to fix things properly and efficiently.  They'll tell you what your various options are, including things you can do yourself, and they have never failed us.  HandyDan is great and we're so glad we found him!! I've been trying to get several projects around the house done, but could never find the time do them until I came across HandyDan.  These guys are amazing. No joke. I called one day, the next day they did an estimate (which was FREE, by the way), I was able to schedule the work to begin within the week. To make matters BETTER (not worse) the tech who i believe was named Jose, offered great suggestions and was really helpful. I found their quality of work to be exceptional and they cleaned up after themselves.The only thing i can complain about is that they could dress a little bit more professionally/uniformally, but this can be overlooked considering how good their work was and that they're, well, handymen...
