What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
To understand what the client wants and from that develop a unique touch to the image that differentiates it from the run of the mill. This can be through the lighting, the composition or the techniques used or a combination of all of these components. And not rushing; getting the correct image is the important thing.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What the subject is, where it is and what the client wants from the shoot - the style, the mood, the reason perhaps that the photograph is being taken. A wedding shoot is quite stylized for some of the content; the group shots, the standard images of the bride and groom for example. With the candid shots we would ask whether you want these to be semi formal with groups and individuals being partly posed, or whether you prefer candid 'in the moment' images, or a combination of these.
What do you love most about your job?
Producing a creative and distinctive solution that meets the client requirements but adds an individual sparkle.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I wanted to be able to provide the services that I wanted at the standard I wanted to achieve at a price that represents good value to the client.
