Dave & his team did an amazing job at our property switching out all the old downstairs doors along with extensive work on our staircase. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dave and he will be my first port of call for any future work. More...

Q&As

Most garages are suitable for conversion if the structure and masonry work is all in good order then it’s a cost effective add on to any property requiring more lovable space.

In most cases a internal wall is required to form a cavity, allowing insulation to be fitted. Raising the floor to existing house level and insulating between the floor joists. Insulation is required in the roof space too. Planning laws have also relaxed on garage conversions allowing the door to be removed which is required and a window fitted with matching brickwork.
Electrical and a radiator to be fitted and plastered through to form the lovable space. Internal works to suit customers requirements.

As long as there is adequate head room and a good space to fit a staircase then a loft is ideal for converting. In some cases a dormer is built on the side to take the staircase and height that’s required and a rear dormer for more space.
If height is an issue ceilings below can be dropped to gain extra height.
Most works are possible just always keeping in mind costs.

Floor joist works including staircase and chipboard over
Building up and strengthening roof rafters
Velux framing out
Internal walls and knee walls to support rafters and make for storage in eaves
First fix electrics and plumbing
Insulation
Plastering
