I didn't want to have to leave a poor review for Dauss, but it's clearly necessary that others know who they are dealing with when hiring him for services, particularly wedding photography.
After we received half of his content, he stopped returning our texts, emails, and social media interactions. It literally took us pretending to be new clients to hear back. After finally connecting 11 weeks after the wedding, he assured us the remaining video needs within a week. That’s clearly not going to happen. Maybe it never was. So to the details:
My wife and I hired Dauss due to his great portfolio and presence on calls. He reassures you with a warm, welcoming voice, and assurances that everything will be great on your big day. He even gave us a nice discount to sign for a bigger package.
Fast forward to the day of the wedding and he showed up solo (after already missing the rehearsal dinner), when we paid for 2-3 photographers, blaming the issue on “COVID”. We understand the current public health environment, and are happy that he did not bring a photographer with COVID to our wedding, but TWO days before the event, he told us who the photographer would be and assured us he would be bringing multiple photographers. After the things we’ve had to deal with post-wedding, it truly brings into doubt whether that excuse was even truthful.
Due to the lack of supporting shooters, our images lack diversity in their content, purpose, and subjects. Having just two photographers would have allowed us to break up the many needs we had on the day of the wedding. A 2nd photographer could have taken pictures of our guests, detail shots of the setup, etc. Instead, we spent all but 1 hour with Dauss, meaning the content captured after our "must have list" is very lacking. In addition, not having a second photographer the day of, meant little to know video being captured. How was Dauss planning to film the bride walking down the aisle on his video camera, while also getting pictures of it. He wasn’t, because the pictures he delivered included TWO images of the bride walking down the aisle, (all near the beginning of the aisle) when that’s one of the biggest moments of the entire day.
Looking specifically at the video portion, we paid for a package including video and drone footage (for almost $3000), which was never delivered. Dauss promises 10-12 weeks for delivery, yet here we are 13 weeks later with nothing… It's all excuses from Dauss when things do not go as he tells you they are. There's a reason he is pushing for more private photo/event gigs and less wedding photography, and he lacks many reviews from the last two years. It’s a constant moving of the goalposts. He literally said that he “got drone footage from the day after the wedding”. Why would we want that with none of us in it, and why are you just telling us this 11 weeks after the wedding.
If you don’t believe me, Dauss has already been taken to Small Claims court by past customers. It’s not too hard to find. He’s also been evicted and had his driver’s license suspended in the last two years. This man is woefully losing what got him to his “status.”

Sadly my date was booked so I couldn't have them as my photographer, but whoever I have been emailing back and forth is AWESOME! They are very amiable and personable!! Even though I couldn't book with them they were VERY helpful with recommendations even AFTER I didn't book with them! That in itself made me give them a 5 star rating! I always had good conversations with them and by the photos I have seen whoever has them as a photographer is very lucky!! So good luck to all those who are engaged and planning their wedding! Dauss is amazing!!!!!! Like ridiculously amazing!! lol I really can not rave about him enough. Let me start by saying I did my research on several photographers in the area and as soon as I saw his work, I knew he was the one---no matter whatever his cost was. After reaching out to him I was further reassured by his professionalism. He was willing to help in every way and any way he could. He was able to provide recommendations and was nothing but a text away. On my wedding day, it was like a 98% chance it was going to rain all day which of course having an outside ceremony I was devastated by. The day before he offered words of encouragement that everything would still be beautiful and honestly just provided me with a sense of comfort that I really needed to hear. That morning we were also running behind but he was very patient and never made me feel rushed. He took the time to make sure that we got shots of all of the most important things I wanted and that really meant a lot to me. I have received my teasers and they are absolutely stunning!!!
