Dandi Within Q&A
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people. I love that people walk away from our sessions feeling lighter, more energized, and relaxed at the same time. I love asking questions that really get people to think and see things differently. I love uncovering hidden blocks and helping people overcome those blocks so they can live life the way they want instead of being or feeling stuck. And I love teaching. It's one thing to help someone, but I find the greatest joy out of helping people help themselves. I truly believe we have all the answers within us, and I love helping people find those answers for their highest good.
What inspired you to start your own business?
In 2014, after 17 years of day-in and day-out stressful corporate work, with the last 14 years in the highly competitive and fast-paced higher education industry, I decided it was time for a change. There had to be more to life than going into a stressful job every day, then to come home to “family work”. Not to mention the pain I felt every day. There it was. Any time something came up that stressed me out, there was the pain in my neck! I had to do something! So I went back to school! I immersed myself in mindfulness, meditation, hypnotherapy, coaching, toe reading, auriculotherpay (working with the ears), homeopathy, aromatherapy, and so much more developing pain treatment and stress management plans, programs to help people stop smoking and lose weight, techniques to overcome PTSD, and more!
Now with a BBA in Accounting, an MBA in Global Management, an AOS in Mind-Body Transformational Psychology , and working on my Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership, my dream is to combine my corporate knowledge and experience with my mind-body transformational knowledge and experience in assisting people and organizations in life-long and rewarding transformation.
I specialize in the power of the law of attraction, teaching and empowering others, helping people manifest their dreams, and transforming and healing others on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. I am a life-long learner and a strong believer in teaching and sharing with others.
Why should our clients choose you?
An important aspect of coaching and hypnotherapy is meeting people where they are and holding that space for them. Meeting people where they are is not about physical location, but involves the mental capacity to show compassion, care, sincerity, and integrity in helping clients understand where they are and where they want to be. It involves a level of mindfulness that only seasoned practitioners may be able to hold. Holding that space for clients is what I do best, allowing clients to feel comfortable and supported while embarking on transformational work for their highest good.
Exploring Leader's Emotional Intelligence While Using Mindfulness in a Work Setting: A Phenomenological Inquiry
The concept of effective leaders possessing higher EI than non-effective leaders is well documented in the literature regarding the impact on leader and organizational success (see Dissanayaka et al., 2010; Goleman, 2001; Kunalic et al., 2016; O'Boyle et al., 2011; Stein et al., 2009; Zeidner et al., 2009). Most of the literature regarding EI discussed the positive benefits of a high EI for leaders and employees alike and how EI may lead to positive outcomes (see Dissanayaka et al., 2010; Goleman, 1995, 2001; Kunalic et al., 2016; O’Boyle et al., 2011; Tang & Yin, 2012). In the presence of higher EI, leaders were more effective in managing teams (Kunalic et al., 2016), and top executives were shown to have higher profitability (Stein et al., 2009). However, a higher EI does not necessarily mean the leader will or will not use those EI skills for prosocial outcomes (Côté, Decelles, McCarthy, Van Kleef, & Hideg, 2011; Enríquez, Ramos, & Esparza, 2017; Kilduff et al., 2010; Lindebaum, 2015; Salovey & Mayer, 1990). Moreover, evidence of how and when leaders use EI, and what other contributing factors may be present, such as mindfulness, which may positively or negatively impact decision making and the corresponding impact on leader and organizational success, is less available in the literature (Kilduff et al., 2010; Kunalic et al., 2016; Lindebaum, 2015; Mayer, Salovey, & Caruso, 2004). Côté et al. (2011) suggested, however, EI skills, specifically emotion-regulation knowledge, is neither positive nor negative, but may help individuals achieve goals whether the goal is to harm or benefit the greater good. This proposed research study will explore leader and employee perceptions of when and how EI may be used in a work setting, and what other possible processes underlie EI such as mindfulness, to either positively or negatively affect leader and organizational success.
