I brought Atticus to Dancing Creek Farm for their 4-week board-and-train program. He is a rescue who had already been through training as a pup, but who has always had a fair amount of anxiety around other dogs and people, and when faced with new situations. I wanted to be able to help him without doping him up on drugs, which is what a couple of vets had suggested. The training they provided him (and me) has helped immensely. He still gets anxious, but I’m now armed with the knowledge and tools to re-focus his attention and calm him down. The frequent videos that Cassie sent me of his training sessions were incredibly helpful, preparing me for the day that I would take over the reins. And when I picked him up on his last day, for the first time ever he rode in the back of my car without whining and pacing. I have worked here since August. I am part time and only work on weekends, but I have never been so amazed by a boarding facility. I have never loved a job as much as this one. As someone who works here, I can say that the cabins are cleaned and water buckets are refilled with fresh water daily. Dancing Creek Farm provides the best and most clean boarding services. Dogs are put in cabins with heating and cooling (depending on outside temp), and each cabin has its own fenced in yard for dogs to play in. Dogs are provided with beds, blankets (if the dogs do not chew them), and 2-3 water buckets (depending on how many dogs are in each cabin). Staff works diligently to provide holistic meals to each dog depending on each dog’s nutritional needs (skin problems, digestive problems, allergies, etc.). On top of all this, dogs get to run free with their friends daily and are taken into the pasture, for further exercise, weekly. Staff works daily to provide mental and physical enrichment to dogs. And those there for training are worked with by our trainer multiple times a week. If you want to keep up with your fur baby while they’re staying with us, then Dancing Creek Farm constantly provides pictures and updates. This place is amazing, very clean, you can definitely tell that a lot of care and love goes into Dancing Creek Farm. I am so thankful for Dancing Creek Farm and the incredible care that they have shown my beloved older dog, Roz. Due to work and moving circumstances, I need longterm care for three months for Roz— we had never been separated for that long and it was a scary prospect being apart for months. As soon as Dancing Creek Farm picked her up, however, I knew she was in the best hands. I got lots of photos of her during the time away and she looked like she was having a blast and clearly so loved and cared for. Her skin and coat have never looked better—it’s clear than Dancing Creek Farm knows their stuff when it comes to nutrition. I hope Roz and I never have to be apart for months again, but I will absolutely be sending her back to Dancing Creek Farm during times that I do need to be away from her. Dancing Creek Farm is the best service we have ever used to care for our babies while we went on vacation. We have used services like standard kennels, we’ve taken our kiddos to other provider’s homes, we’ve had people come to our home - but none have provided the level of engagement and care like Dancing Creek Farm. We were pleased by the thorough vetting process and questionnaire to ensure they understood all needs our kiddos have. Their site was IMMACULATE… I mean the entire facility was so amazingly clean. Their care givers are fantastic - we got pictures and texts everyday. I can’t even begin to explain how amazing Dancing Creek Farm is! They are so accommodating, friendly, and caring. I’ve always been worried about boarding my pups but they made all my worries disappear when I dropped of Eliza and Ellie. From pictures at least once’s a week or more to making sure they are at the vet when they need to be! They are reasonably priced and they will take care of your fur babies like they are their own. We LOVE Dancing Creek! Our family was in transition and we needed a safe, loving and fun place for our boxer. He had to stay for 7 months. We missed him dearly, but got many photos and updates. We picked him up this past weekend. He’s happier and healthier than he’s ever been! We are so happy he is home, and would happily drive the 4 hours to board him, even for a short term. I was desperate as I was going to have to board my three dogs long term but knew they would be miserable in the standard boarding facilities. Even though all three are rescues I did considered finding them new homes rather than boarding but then my local kennel told me about Dancing Creek Farm. Fifteen months later I have my four legged family back with me and couldn't be happier. I can not express my gratitude to Dancing Creek enough, especiallyTamara, Dakota and Maria, they saved our family, loving took care of our dogs emotionally and physically and stayed in touch with me all the way through our separation, posting pictures of the dogs happily at play. The facility is beautiful and very well looked after, my dogs having their own cabin and little garden to play in when they are not in the paddock I would not hesitate to take my dogs back to Dancing Creek even if it is a five hour drive 😊 More...

I have taken my two mixed-breed border collie rescues to other pet boarding places with undesirable results, so we tried Dancing Creek. The staff and facilities at Dancing Creek far exceed those of other facilities we have tried. When we picked them up, they were wagging their tails and wanting to go back inside the facility. This place is fantastic. Very different from regular kennels and city hotels. Dogs have plenty of space, enough exercise and good nutrition (we even received a “doggie” bag for each of our dogs for our return trip to DC). Our two rescues were also trained by Cassie who managed to make huge progress in relatively short time, particularly, with our very shy but very stubborn beagle mix Bailey. She kept sending us videos, useful tips and regular updates which was very much appreciated. I consult her tips and other links we received from the farm now regularly to keep the progress going. The staff gave our pooches truly royal treatment. Any, our cocker spaniel, was probably more brushed and trimmed than at home! I would recommend this place to everyone. And they even offer transport service to and from the farm. We did not used it this time since we were going that direction anyway and wanted to see the place for ourselves, but it may become handy in the future. My two elderly dogs stayed for a month. Nov/Dec 2020. Yoko and Maurice. They had their own little house and yard. They got to run in the meadows every day. And I got pictures daily. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. They truly care. They gave my pups additional supplements for joint support and general well-being and sent a bunch home with them, no additional charge. My dogs got a break from the city and spent time in nature in very capable hands. My youngest is dog aggressive and special care was taken. The crew is so engaged and caring. This is THE PLACE for your dog. I missed them terribly, first time in 8 years we were separated. But those daily pictures told me I gave them the opportunity of a lifetime. To just be dogs, run, have fun and eat the best meals. Both returned in the best physical shape. Thank you for all the care and dedication of the owner and crew. You guys are the best!! We had an incredible experience boarding our dogs at DCF for four months. We were always confident that our boys were being well taken care of. Tamara and her team were in touch when some health issues arose and got the pups straight to the vet. We also highly recommend training your dogs with Cheril Carr! We only trained for one month of their stay and we've seen such a remarkable improvement since their return, we wish we'd used her services the entire stay. Cheril was always in touch about the sessions, she is a patient guide to her animals and she is so clearly passionate about what she does. She made the time for us during pick up to train us humans so that we could continue to work with our dogs when they got back home--so far, so good. I just had a fantastic experience using Dancing Creek Farm. It’s like a beautiful thoroughbred horse farm, but for dogs. They are perfect for active dogs and long term boarding. All dogs have roomy pens each with their own cabin which is air conditioned or heated and has doggie beds and dog door. Every day, dogs are also taken to a large pasture to run full out. Also they have a board and train option, which I did. I got lots of pictures and training videos throughout my trip. I swear my dogs were smiling in their pictures! It’s the first time my dogs (border collies) did not come back from boarding stressed and with diarrhea. And, for what you get, it’s a great deal. Better than up here (Dc area) They also have a small dog area. Dancing Creek Farm is in Cascades, VA. They are 5 hours from here but they have a great service where they will pick up and drop off your dogs (extra fee for this). They also help our active military members with boarding their dogs sometimes for a year or more with discounted rates. Really good people. They really care. I will be using them again, for sure! Some six months ago, our dog Max, a four-year old Beagle, was a morbidly obese dog and causing problems around our apartment complex due to his issues with house training. Despite our different attempts to get him healthy and to properly train him in all the most basic of dog skills, it was quite evident that we needed to reach out to caring professionals who could help all of us.  Ultimately, this meant temporarily placing him in a situation which would help us help him return to the healthy little 8-week puppy we loved with all our hearts.  My wife and I, and of course, Max, needed a fresh start to get back on the path toward a healthy lifestyle.  I researched the issue and found out about a viable solution, Dancing Creek Farm, a long-term boarding and training located outside of Danville, Virginia. So, we made the difficult decision to hand over the responsibilities of Max's health and general well-being to Tamara and Dakota and the rest of the Dancing Creek team to provide Max the means of not only shedding his unhealthy weight, but also to go back to the drawing board to relearn how to follow commands and improve his self-control and discipline.I did the communicating with Dancing Creek throughout Max's stay and saw that Dancing Creek was not just a viable solution, but a godsend for Max. I could see that Tamara and Dakota understood dogs and how to give them the help they needed, whatever that might be.In the four months that Max was at Dancing Creek, the wonderful team of Tamara and Dakota, the owners of Dancing Creek Farm, and their staff, helped Max lose thirty-two pounds  and trained him to improve his discipline and self-control.They crafted a diet and exercise plan unique to Max, which surely couldn't have been easy when caring for eighty other dogs.  It turned his life around.  He's never been happier.  We've been back home with Max for a week and see a more confident, better-trained dog who has a new lease on life.  This is making a huge difference, not just in Max's life, but in the functioning of our family.  We've gotten to know Tamara and Dakota through Max's journey. We really respect their dedication to the animals and the hard work they put into to the health and well-being of the dogs at Dancing Creek. Tamara and Dakota and Team really care about this work.  That really matters. In fact, it makes all the difference.Because of our gratitude, we will certainly be keeping track of all the other dogs at Dancing Creek. In addition, we want to thank the Dancing Creek community.  They rallied around Max during his journey and supported him and us.  We are so appreciative of the love they showed Max. (I can't tell you how much we enjoyed the Facebook, IG videos and photos that chronicled Max's journey.)  We are also so excited for Dancing Creek, as they plan to spread their love for dogs with a non-profit for dogs who are of an advanced age.In conclusion, from Tamara and Dakota to the staff who worked so hard, we can never repay what you given Max and our family. It goes without saying that not all aspects of working with dogs is glamorous,as any pet owner knows. The DCF Team has shown that the work they do in this rural southern Virginia community is more to them than work. Tamara and her staff at Dancing Creek Farm (DCF) have been absolutely fantastic with our female Great Dane, Harley Rose. Harley is normally a little timid around strangers and so we were worried, especially since we were shipping her to Dancing Creek Farm from Japan without us! DCF kept us posted from pickup through the 6 months she was at the farm through very responsive email replies, videos, and pictures on their Facebook page! Due to a series of unfortunate events we were forced to decide whether we to rehome our dog or find a long-term boarding solution. I couldn’t bare losing her, so boarding it was! Deciding to leave your dog in someone else’s care is never an easy decision, but after doing a ton of research on different options I fell in love with Dancing Creek Farms. Tamara’s facility is wonderful and clean with a lot of hard-to-find offerings. It was important to me that our pup got socialization with other dogs and wasn’t kept in a cage. I also wanted to make sure she’d have quality food and one-on-one time. The facility really is impressive, and their mission of providing care and a place for dogs to be during hard times is inspiring. Since our pup was untrained and a bit of a disaster on walks, we added on training classes during to get paws in line, but never did we expect her to make such a transformation! Our girl is also the shyest pup I’ve ever met. It takes a lot of patience for her to open up to you. I was positively delighted when I received videos of her walking beside Sheril (her trainer), sitting for her, and staying! She even became excited for her training sessions and began being a role model for other dogs, never in my wildest dreams did I ever expect to see her like that. She was also taught to be off leash, and a few other neat tricks such as stacking treats on her nose and having her wait for the command to drop and eat them. Simply wonderful. We were also fortunate to be able to have Sheril drive up to bring Sadie home and work with us for a few days to ease the transition and make sure we knew how to communicate with her. I could not be more happy and greatful of Dancing Creek Farm and the whole team. They took care of my two dogs for almost a full year! Their care, attention and love for my dogs and all the animals there is as true and real as it could be. My dogs where happy and as healthy as they can be the whole time they where there. We cannot say enough positive comments about DCF! We needed to be out of the country for work but we’re besides ourselves about how we would care for our pups (sadly due to circumstances taking them wouldn’t have been an option for them due to the distance/their ages/personalities (can get stressed)). We found DCF! The staff is amazing! They provide love, attention, exercise and a personal healthy diet for your pup. We were able to take them out for a few weeks during the holidays on a trip back to the US. Our pups were so happy, healthy and well adjusted:-). Picked up Mischa today from a two+ month stay at DCF. She’s happy and healthy. I can’t thank them enough, I had a long transit period between duty stations, and without DCF I think I would have had to re-home my puppers. Wow Dancing Creek Farm is absolutely amazing, I was over seas working when my dog sitter had told me that She was no longer able to watch my sweet boys and I had just a few weeks to find a new place for them to stay for the remaining six months of my contract. I contacted Tamara and she said she would love to take Tyson and Apollo for that time. My communication was very limited due to the poor internet quality of where I was working and living and she understood that right away and was able to do majority of the communication with my mother throughout their stay at the farm. During their stay their diets had switched to a great grain free diet with all sorts of natural and wholistic supplements that helped them lose weight and bring out their coats. When I went to pick them up yesterday and got to see the facilities for the first time I was so happy that I had chosen Dancing Creek Farm as the place was pristine and looked like the ultimate doggy camp. With ample room for each cabin pen for the dogs to get up and outside to use the bathroom to the massive pasture that they would run in everyday I couldn’t have chosen a better place. We needed a place to board our dog for a month and knew that he would suffer in a traditional boarding facility. The cabin like setting with opportunities for him to make dog friends is what drew us to DCF and gave us the peace of mind to travel for an extended holiday. We opted for the 4 week board and train. Brody has always been reactive to strangers and somewhat aloof. He came back to us more relaxed and affectionate. Sheril was fantastic at getting him to focus and follow commands without being distracted. He is now a pleasure to walk and is happy when kids and neighbors come to the house. We live near Washington DC and wanted a good place for our three dogs to stay for several months while we are in the process of moving. We feel so lucky to have found Dancing Creek. Jackie in the transportation group picked our dogs up from our house. She was very sensitive to the fact that we were sad to be apart from them, and allowed us all the time we needed to say goodbye to our pups. She made sure that they were transported safely to the farm. We could tell immediately how well cared for our dogs would be. DCF has so much to offer - from the frequent pictures and videos, the unique cabins, large fenced field to run in and the great staff.
