I provide an affordable therapy service in Carmarthen in English and in Welsh. I am also available for sessions in the Pontcanna area of Cardiff, by appointment, on Tuesdays, also in English and Welsh.

I work with adults on a short or long term basis. It is my aim to provide you with a meaningful and effective opportunity to explore your personal & relational issues, where I will aim to facilitate, support and guide you without judgement or prejudice, in a safe and confidential environment in order to help you explore a range of personal and life issues.

The issues that lead people to seek therapy may be general or specific and could include:

• Experiencing stress or anxiety related to work or home life;
• Struggling with issues relating to relationships;
• Having difficulty adjusting to traumatic life events;
• Finding ways to better understand yourself;
• Looking for more fulfilment in life;
• A general sense of something "not being right" or feeling stuck.

Psychotherapy sessions are a safe place to talk about things you might not be comfortable discussing with anyone else, and as such, can be a supportive, rewarding & life changing process. Some people explore self-development issues, whilst others choose to explore historical issues that impede daily functioning. Others feel the benefit of simply having the opportunity to talk and to be properly heard. The aim is to help you find better ways to cope, or to bring about changes in the way you think and behave, to improve your mental and emotional awareness & well-being, as well as your general quality of life.

I have experience with working with a range of issues, including post-traumatic stress, anger issues, depression, anxiety, drug & alcohol addiction, identity & gender identity, sexual issues, obsessive compulsive thinking / patterns, traumatic and challenging life events, relationship issues and bereavement & loss.

I aim to treat, with respect, the diversity of human experience, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, age, sexuality, sexual orientation, disability, religion, culture or political beliefs, social and economic background, or immigration status.

My approach is primarily but not exclusively Gestalt, which focuses mainly on self-awareness and the 'here & now' - what is happening from one moment to the next, and guided by the relational theory principle that every individual is a whole - a mind, a body and a soul. The aim is to become more aware of who we are in the world, by seeing ourselves in relation to others. This increased self-knowledge can enable us to understand our processes and so to make positive changes in our lives. Gestalt therapy involves a one-to-one relationship and not a collection of techniques and methods which are practised on a person or which have to be learnt and taken home by the client to implement.

Psychotherapy research show that it is the quality of relationship that heals. We are social animals born into relationship, yet they are often so challenging. A psychotherapeutic relationship can illuminate the unhelpful patterns that complicate your relationships with others and provide an opportunity to try out new ways of relating. The therapeutic relationship, between you and I, is the most important feature of the therapy I provide.
