This business really should be getting 5 stars all the way until checkout. Lance the owner had fast communication, Lee at the store was pleasant and even allowed me to see a bit of the video prior to deciding to transfer it. I dropped off a usb and the vhs was transferred same day. There was even a cute thank you with candy and usb back in original packaging, very professional and I was ready to highly recommend.The thing that threw me is the quote was $35, ended up being double that since the tape was over an hour. I was surprised but didn't think anything of it until I got home and noticed it was only one minute past the hour.I understand every business has to have guidelines but had they cut off the minute of random content, threw it in or called to ask if I wanted it would have been top notch since the price doubled from what I expected. The fact that they didn't puts them in the same category as any 'good' business. Be warned if you have a tape one hour and 15 seconds, your price will double as well. As long as you expect that, the work and service was great. I just personally didn't feel the value was there and will probably look elsewhere if I need this done again. More...

I found family 8mm reels from the 50's and 60's. They put all six on a DVD.  They said it would take two weeks but it only took a week. They spent time helping me put them in some sort of order since some didn't have a date on the box. Had an old cassette tape from my daddy who had passed away 21 years ago, want sure where to take it to convert to CD's and make additional copies for my brother's and sisters. For my parent's 50th wedding anniversary we wanted to surprise them with a video of photos from their 5o years together. There were old photos from the beginning of their marriage that had been developed, in addition to more recent digital photos. Action Video Services has a very user friendly website that helped us get organized, and then we dropped off all our old photos plus a jump drive with our newer digital photos and music we selected for the video. They put them together into a beautiful montage. They incorporated the music we'd selected, and the video had lovely transitions and timing with the music. It was superbly done. We also had them convert old slides and old 8mm film reel into DVDs. It's been so fun to see these old pictures that had been locked away for decades in a format we couldn't view. I could not be more pleased with the product and service I received from Nigel of Action Video Service.  I had a videotape from 1999/2001 of trips my friends and I took and wanted to save it.  I was encouraged to transfer it not only because I no longer have a VCR but also read online how video tapes typically only hold their magnetism for 15-20 years, which is what holds the video and audio.  Obviously, we are into those 15-20 years and decided I really needed to transfer to a DVD (and eventually will transfer to multiple DVD copies and digital) before I lost the tape.  Nigel was friendly, easygoing but competely professional.  I liked that the videotape stays in the shop and is not shipped out so less chance of something happening in transit.  Nigel answered my questions and had the DVD ready in a day or two.  The cost was very reasonable and again completely pleased with the DVD's I received.  It was well worth the investment to preserve the videos of another life.  Assuming my experience is typical, if you have videos needing transfer you will do well to use Video Action Service. My mom had recently asked me to try and get an old malfunctioning VHS tape converted to DVD. It had some old family movies on it, taken on an old camera back in the 60's by my grandfather. They were able to get it to me in one day (was only one tape) and the transfer was great. I have a few more tapes I want to convert now and I will definitely go back to them, even though it requires a special trip for me (outside of NW Hwy?! Gasp!). I relied on Action Video to convert several priceless home videos to DVD as a Christmas gift. Despite the fact that I procrastinated a bit and didn't bring everything in until a few weeks before Christmas, they got the job done very quickly! It's rare that I'm delighted enough to bother writing a review.I have a mountain of my family's old 8mm and Super 8 film reels, and a few of them (like my parents' wedding video) are super precious.  I wanted to have that one digitized professionally, and started shopping around.  From their Yelp reviews and their website, Action Video seemed pretty reputable so I took a chance.They just blew away all my expectations.  All the disclaimers said it would be 1-2 weeks for film conversion, but they did it in less than 24 hours!?  They are super knowledgeable and professional, and made me feel comfortable that my priceless/precious media was in good hands.  (They explained that they use cold LEDs to transfer directly from the film, no running it through a hot projector.)  The cost was a little pricier than I expected, but after such great service, I feel it was well worth it.And also...they threw two Pixie Sticks in my checkout bag as an added bonus! I found Action Video Service by searching Yahoo and was impressed that they make their duplications in house and do not ship them to another state like many places do. I did a lot of video work in college over 20 years ago and the only copies I have are VHS dubbed from 3/4" tapes. I co-hosted a video review show for my college's television station my sophomore year and wanted to get my copy duped to DVD. The show had some problematic clips that AVS was able to run through a computer to instantly fix, without charging extra.I am very impressed with the results. The VHS copy has lots of tracking problems which I anticipated to be duplicated to DVD, but somehow the tracking actually turned out very smooth, especially for video from 1990!I highly recommend AVS for converting VHS to DVD.  I found their prices to be very reasonable and the staff helpful and friendly. I even enjoyed playing the complimentary Pac-Man and Galaga (got high score) on an old-school standup arcade game cabinet.Cheers! More...
