CustomKosher, LLC. Q&A
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
CustomKosher collaborates closely with our clients to create the perfect menu. After an initial conversation I send potential clients a collection of food lists I have created to help them brainstorm what they might like to serve their guests. I also request that clients give me what I call their 'comfort number' — the amount of money they feel comfortable spending for their future occasion or weekly personal chef services. Using their budget guidance, and the information gained in our conversation, I design a number of menu options for their consideration. After their review of these options and materials we work together to plan memorable meals to match their tastes, style of service, health conditions when necessary and budget.
What do you love most about your job?
I love making people happy with my food and creating memorable occasions with delicious meals — whether they be elegant evening affairs or festive & fun picnics. CustomKosher works hard to make every event match the special requests & requirements of our clients.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started CustomKosher as a second career. My first career was as a graphic designer. I morphed from graphic design to catering when computers were invented. With the birth of computers my design clients were able to use formats to produce their own print materials. Because cooking has been a love of mine since childhood it was an natural transition. I turned an avocation into a vocation.
People know that they can't or don't want to cook or cook well. There are also a very few kosher catering companies. And, because of my knowledge of health and nutrition CustomKosher even creates recipes and prepares meals for both Jewish and non Jewish people with the need for meals tailored to specific and significant health conditions and nutritional needs.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm proud to say that my clients love CustomKosher food and that we will not disappoint. Many, if not most, of my customers aren't Jewish or don't keep kosher they simply love my food. I pride myself in creating recipes to match the tastes of our clients with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Everything we cook for an event or deliver to a customer is made that day. I like to say I'm a freshness freak. My customers taste the difference and the love and care in every dish.

It's been a busy 2018 spring & summer for Customer!
A Busy Spring & Summer!
Memorial Day weekend CustomKosher catered a wedding for 160 people. The menu had an international theme. There was an Israeli station featuring fresh made falafel and assorted toppings; a Mediterranean station that focused on wine poached salmon; and a Spanish station serving a variety of frittatas. Each station was accompanied by a variety of salads. One weekend later CustomKosher catered a Friday night bat mitzvah Shabbat dinner for 35 and a Saturday afternoon luncheon for 190. In addition to the most loved entree - eggplant Parmesan with fresh Caesar salad, the hit of the day was dessert. We served butter pound cake & strawberries for dipping in hot, dark chocolate fudge sauce. At the end of June I traveled to the Grand Cayman Island to cook breakfast, lunch & dinner for a family of 6 vacationing on the Island from Philadelphia. Busy days of cooking were punctuated by short trips to the beach and the pool. Would I do it again? You bet! This was my second island adventure. In April 2016 I catered Passover meals in a villa on the Island of Anguilla for a family of 19.
