I went to Kay because despite all the supplements I was taking, I still didn't feel as good as I knew I could. She tested me and educated me about what to eat and not eat. She also tested me on all the stuff I was taking (I'd hear an ad for a supplement and think "That's what I need!" and I discovered they were doing more harm than good. Immediately I started losing weight and feeling better. I'm in the music business and need to have lots of energy. Thanks to Kay, now I do! More...

I went to see Kay because I didn’t feel right most of the time. I wasn’t sleeping, I was stressed out, I often had intestinal distress, bloated and gassy, dragged myself out of bed in the morning and more. She did a comprehensive evaluation including a huge questionnaire and we met for over 2 hrs. Kay suggested liquid herb supplements immediately then I transitioned to whole food and herbal supplements. I am sleeping better, bloating gone, gas gone, I just feel good! Recently she had me do a 10 Day Standard Process Detox program after which I am drinking much less caffeine and less alcohol (yes I still drink coffee and drink wine and have an occasional piece of pizza) and feel lighter...less fleshy. Kay truly cares about my well being...and she’s a great listener. Thanks Kay! More...

I cam to Kay for digestive issues. One day, all of a sudden, it seemed that every single time I ate something, my stomach would hurt afterwards.
I heard about Kay through a friend. I was admittedly VERY skeptical that there was anything she could do to resolve my issues.
"She's not a doctor." I kept saying to myself. "It's just my age (48 at the time), nothing I can do. I'm just getting older."
Finally, completely fed up, and NOTHING over the counter helping at all either, my friend BEGGED ME to reach out to her.
Well, I certainly wish I had sooner!!
Here I am, and I NEVER feel like that after I eat now!
She explained some basic digestive information, and gave me a solution I just KNEW (at the time) was way too easy, too good, to be true.
Well, low and behold, my stomach problems were gone almost immediately upon following her advice, and they haven't been back since. It's been almost two years now, and I still eat anything I want without that past inevitability of my previous discomfort and stomach pain.
YAY, KAY! You saved the day (and my stomach)!

I'm in my 50's, and feel better with more energy than I did more than twenty years ago! I know that has everything to do with following Kay's advice on diet and nutrition.
She makes the information easy to understand, and there is zero judgment. She knows we are all human and not everyone is looking to live a life of total deprivation when it comes to eating. However, you can still be healthier than you ever have been before with her help.
If you're interested, she is willing to share with you the literature on how and why your body reacts to certain foods, and then teaches you how to start approaching a healthier lifestyle so you can get optimal performance from your body-even if you didn't initially realize it's not performing the way it should or could.
She isn't going to make you any false promises and won't deny that reaching your unique goal will require some commitment and dedication on your part; but once you are ready to reach out and take that first crucial step, she is who you want as your guide.

Whatever you are interested in tackling when it comes to your health and feeling better, she will be in your corner taking it on with you.
I guarantee that you and your body will thank her.

I am (now) a remarkably healthy 82 year old woman who has been Kay's client for about 10 years. I feel much better and look better than I did before Kay and I joined forces to address my multiple health problems. My doctors consistently advise me to continue the health routines and the Standard Process Vitamins Kays testing indicate because they produce measurable positive results, My "yo yo" weight finally stabilized--down from size 1X to a 6 petite. Kay and I update the routines and she re-tests for the vitamin regimen as needed. She is a joy to work with because she enthusiastically explains the reasons behind her well-educated advice and gently encourages--never shames. Kay's diligent participation in continuing education programs ensures her clients benefit from the latest findings in her field. Practical Kay gives tips on tasty healthy foods and recipes. Yum! I become more thankful for Kay's care every year. Thanks to her, I'm quit the spry old lady. More...

I can't say enough wonderful things about Kay and the personal service she provides. Both my daughter and I were clients for very different health issues and she treated us both with fantastic results. Kay very thoughtfully considers all factors when making an assessment of one’s symptoms and comes up with a treatment plan. In a time when getting great, personal service with an experienced, caring profession is lacking, Kay Curtis truly excels and is my "go to" nutritionist. You can’t go wrong with her.

Doing nutritional consultations with Kay Curtis is one of the best things I've ever done. Here's the deal: I was an athlete, and in great shape until I injured my knees in a subway accident. Being unable to run, over the years, I gained weight. There were some other life changes that also contributed to the weight gain. I've always been interested in being healthy and I was taking a lot of vitamins and supplements. I read the ads or heard about the newest supplement on the market that would support some body system or prevent some unhealthy thing from happening. "Prevention" was the buzzword that would hook me. I was "trying" to be healthy.

I started seeing Kay Curtis because I had heard other success stories. In my first meeting with her, she had me bring in all of the supplements I'd been taking. She tested me on all them and I found out that I tested poorly on a lot of them. Yikes! She then tested me on the extremely high-quality supplements that she uses from Standard Process. The purpose of testing me on many supplements was to find out what organs needed help (adrenals, heart, etc.) Her philosophy is, in order to lose weight, you need to be healthy. So I got rid of the "bad" supplements and started on the ones that Kay recommended.

The first thing I noticed was that I was sleeping better. For many years I've had problems getting to sleep. I don't any more. This is a MAJOR win! Secondary to that, I have lost 35 pounds. Those
supplements I was taking in an effort to be healthy were actually working against me. There was no logical system to what I was doing, I was just adding things to the mix hoping that they were doing what they were supposed to do.

Every sane diet tells you to stop eating bread. I've been addicted to bread my whole life and have tried to stop eating it many times. Bread was one of my favorite foods. I couldn't imagine a meal without it. I actually didn't feel like a meal was complete unless I had at least one piece of bread. Until now. One of Kay's suggestions was to try a low-carb bread. Usually stuff like that is awful but she has found a low-carb bread that actually tastes good and has a good texture (not like other "alternatives" to bread that taste awful and have the texture of crusty old gym socks). The first couple of weeks on the diet Kay recommended were very hard, but I lived through them. She is very helpful, with good suggestions for getting through rough spots and times that a difficult.

This is not a deprivation diet. The idea is to have meals be satisfying, tasty and healthy. I have not been hungry on this diet and I haven’t felt deprived. Snacks are encouraged - healthy ones. Now, I don't crave sweets all the time. I don't have to have chocolate. (I never thought I'd say that!) That's amazing. I can't believe that when I want a snack, I think about having a cucumber! And I love it.

There's a lot of false data, fad diets and junk supplements out there. I'm so glad that I have Kay Curtis to advise me in this complicated and crazy area. I highly recommend Curtis Nutrition - not just to fix what might be ailing you, but to achieve optimal health and wellness. Kay Curtis is there for you, with solutions.

I need a lot of energy to run a few careers so I went to Curtis Nutrition simply to get more energy and not have slumps in the afternoon. Little did I realize how many other benefits would be coming. I lost weight, I eat in a way my body really likes without feeling deprived. I always knew sugar was poison but until I handled what was craving it, I still missed it. I was also in adrenal exhaustion for various reasons, and Kay supported one system after another until eating healthy and exercising was not only possible, it feels like what I want to do. I know I wouldn't feel good and be pain free if I had continued on the road I was on, taking whatever supplement I just got an email about. The food based supplements she uses to support one system at a time, building up the body to peak performance have changed my life. More...

Curtis Nutrition is the bomb. As a result of working with Kay Curtis, I have not only lost weight but I sleep better! I am on a vitamin regimen of food based supplements that have replaced my old synthetic vitamins. The best thing is that I'm eating better. This has been tough (giving up bread) but Kay makes really good recommendations for substitutes that have made the process of changing my diet more than bearable. And it's all done on a gradient instead of having to "give up" all the fun foods all at once. Kay makes great suggestions on new options and she has a ton of really good recipes on her website. Kay is also an educator so she suggest articles and videos that really help her clients to understand the reasoning behind changes in diet and lifestyle. Kay Curtis at Curtis Nutrition is just the best! I much prefer the holistic, natural approach to solving body problems and improving my health, instead of medical doctors who attempt to treat symptoms (rather than the causes) and prescribe drugs to suppress those symptoms. I learned long ago to listen to my body; aches, pains, digestive troubles, low-energy, weight gain: these are all indicators of non-optimum operation of some part of the body (and it's usually not the part that hurts). Kay had me fill out a comprehensive health analysis in which I was able to indicate any and all non-optimum conditions going on in my body. I did this from her website in the privacy of my own home. I sent her the analysis and we scheduled an appointment. When I arrived, Kay had already studied the analysis and asked me more questions to find which areas should be addressed first. From there, she performed extensive muscle testing which pinpointed the exact nutritional deficiencies that needed support. Then she gave me a program of several Standard Process whole-food supplements to start taking with meals. Once I was through that first phase with noticeable improvements, I met with her again and she retested the body. Now we were able to continue some of the program from the first phase, and address the second phase which covered the next non-optimum condition. Good health is a combination of being aware of one's body, learning about how the body works (we didn't get an owner's manual when we came into this world), providing the right food, water and supplements to keep things running as nature intended, and causatively moving the body around (exercise) every now and then. It makes perfect sense that nutrition plays such a key role in having a healthy body which is then able to keep up with the demands of my entrepreneurial life (there are no sick days when you work for yourself!).Thanks, Kay, for your care and expertise. You are my go-to nutritionist here in Los Angeles! More...

Kay is also an educator so she doesn't lecture you on how bad you're being, rather, she shows you empirical data on what various things do to the body - good and bad - and that education really helps with the decision to follow a sane food plan. A side benefit of working with Curtis Nutrition is that I sleep better! I had no idea that would happen. I started seeing Kay Curtis a little over 3 months ago to get help losing weight and with some other health issues.  I have lost 30 lbs to date and overall, feel like a new person with a better immune system, digestive system and with more energy!  Kay really cares about her clients and listens to all of their problems and then figures out ways to troubleshoot.  She is very SMART and knowledgeable about nutrition.  I have tried Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig in the past, both worked at the time but I gained it all back because they both promote very disordered eating.  With Kay, you really LEARN about nutrition and how important vegetables, protein and fruit are and how bad sugar and wheat are for you.  Knowledge is power and Kay is all about teaching her clients what is right for them.  When you understand what the bad stuff does to your body, it really changes how you see food.  Kay is also not judgmental at all, as one might think nutritionists are.  No matter what problem you bring to her, she works to troubleshoot it any way possible and is sensitive and understanding. Also, she is available by email in between appointments for any questions which is very helpful for new clients trying to get this whole nutrition thing right. She carries a great supplement line called Standard Process.  She does on-going education with them to learn about new products and what her clients need. Her prices are very reasonable.  After the initial 3-session consultation which is $450 where she spends about 3-4 hours with her clients learning all about their health and nutrition issues, follow up appointments are $60 per appointment.  It is well worth the money! If you are looking for a nutritionist, I cannot recommend Kay Curtis enough! Q&As

If a poor diet got you to where you are health-wise (and it did), a healthy diet can get you out of it! And I speak from personal experience. I have not always eaten well- as a matter of fact, I probably use to eat about as poorly as anyone could manage. So I always say if I can turn my diet around, anyone can. https://www.curtisnutrition.com/about/

Poor diets are at the bottom of low energy levels, hormonal imbalances, weight, diabetes, anxiety and depression, cardiovascular issues, pain and inflammation and everything else you can come up with.

A healthy diet doesn't have to be boring. I have a great shopping list I can give you that will provide healthy substitutes for the unhealthy foods you love, so you won't feel deprived.

Food-based supplements are also important to add to your diet. They support the body and supplement the diet so balance can be achieved at a faster rate.

Remember, medicine might be necessary for a while, but it's also like putting a post-it note over the "check engine light" on the dashboard. It doesn't handle the underlying reason for the problem.

There are no drug deficiencies, only nutrient deficiencies - and nutrients come from food and supplements.

I get up in the morning because I love when people come in and they feel better than they have for years and they are amazed at what was really causing it and how it wasn't really that hard to resolve.

As an educator of 30 years, a young widow and a breast cancer survivor, the subject of health through proper nutrition and a nontoxic environment has become of great interest to me. But how I got to this point in my personal and professional life is a perilous story that brought me very close to knocking on heaven’s door.

I was eating very poorly: fast food, frozen food from Costco, etc. I also smoked. Then my husband died suddenly (he was very unhealthy) and left me a widow at 35. That got me to clean up my act (a little). I cut down on fast food (not altogether), but I was still smoking and was taking all sorts of over-the-counter medication for frequent colds, rashes and other skin problems. I thought all this was fine. This was the way I was raised: lots of chemicals and whatever else was convenient and fast. You see, I came from a family of doctors!

I also suffered from life-long blood sugar problems and digestion issues. Even though I always maintained a very thin form, (I’m a former model), I started to gain lots of weight. Then I got breast cancer. This led me to research chemicals in our environment. I removed all of them from my personal care items and household. And I quit smoking because I believed all those things to be the source of my cancer.

But right around the same time, I was tutoring one of the most brilliant children I had ever meet in my education career (I was an Educational Consultant). He was five years old and could do long division and read at a 3rd-grade level. But he was a little strange, so his mother put him on Zoloft. He started losing his memory and abilities. It was a side effect of the drug. It was horrifying to watch. I also had other students that were prescribed Ritalin and Prozac. I saw what these drugs did to these poor children, so I decided to go back to school and learn Nutrition in order to be able to offer an alternative to them and their parents.

After I started seeing children for nutritional matters, I realized I couldn’t truly help them unless I could get the parents to change. That’s when I started seeing adults and getting them to understand how nutrition can affect not only our lives, but our children’s lives, behavior, and ability to learn.

I am Board Certified Nutritional Consultant and a Certified Applied Clinical Nutritionist.

I love figuring out the underlying problem the person is having and resolving that - it's a little like being a detective!

I work hard at finding healthy solutions and substitutes to unhealthy foods you might be eating, so you don't feel deprived, and you get more nutrition.

I like to find the underlying reason for your health issue rather than just address symptoms.

I use nutrient-rich supplements made from a base of 100% whole food, grown on organic farms.

I don't use synthetic, chemical-based vitamins made in a lab that make you more toxic.

My background as an educator for 30 years.

My continuing education - I attend 120 to140 hours of Clinical Nutrition classes every year.
My personal understanding of how you feel because I haven't always been healthy myself.

My ability to regain my own health after a bout with breast cancer and other stressful situations. I FEEL GOOD...AGAIN, so I know you can too!

My purpose is to spread the truth about what is health causing poor health in this country and help reverse it.
