I’ve been a CFSB member for about 2 months now. The schedule is very flexible - there is a time slot that will work for everyone. The coaches explain each WOD in detail and the workouts have choices for different fitness levels. The coaches also help you scale in case of any injuries. The workouts are challenging but fun. You can perform at any level you are currently at. The coaches are very helpful and very personable. The members are friendly and it’s been a pleasure to become part of the CFSB community. If you are interested Michael and Janine will gladly give you a tour and speak to you about membership. More...

They make working out fun and easy. Very knowledgeable staff and great array of programs depending on your needs. If you are a beginner or a workout veteran, this is the only place you'll go once you step inside.

Excellent facility with extremely knowledgeable staff. I have been participating at the gym for almost 2 1/2 years.

Dynamic, challenging workouts closely overseen by dedicated staff combined with a great atmosphere.

Totally enjoy the community environment participating in CrossFit Open, Barbell for Boobs Fundraiser, Murph Challenge and the annual CrossFit Stony Brook Throw Down!

My last review was about a year ago, so I thought I'd update. I honestly never thought I'd still be exercising a year later. I still only have great things to say about CrossFit. One of the best things is that now my son goes with me once a week and takes the kid/teen class. I love that there is a sense of community, and the people that work there truly mean it when they say "how are you" or "nice to see you". I've been going for 4 1/2 years now - since I turned 60. Yes, "masters" are welcome! The workouts are varied so you never get bored. They are scaled to your ability. The instruction is superb with safety as an important aspect. Coaches do a fantastic job. No 'show-offs' here. Everyone competes against his or her self. Everyone cheers for and 'high-fives' each other. The new location is great. Although I have no need for it, the protected kids area is good for those who must bring their children along (or pay a babysitter). I am a very satisfied customer! More...

I joined Stony Brook CrossFit in July 2014 . I t changed my life. There is something very special about it . Michael and the staff have been there for me in exceeding all of my goals . I would wholeheartedly recommend this gym to anyone in our area whether you are a 20-year-old athlete training for an upcoming season or 40-year-old just looking to be in better shape. (This post is by Jennifer Aron)I am new to CrossFit and so far I am loving it. I really like that there is a beginner class. The coaches always say any class can be scaled down -- and I have scaled down classes so I can keep up -- but I know in the beginner class there are other people with my skill level so I feel more confident. Also, the new space is FANTASTIC. There's so much room! I started going to CrossFit for their World's Best Bootcamp program. I did that twice and was amazed at how much stronger I became after 6 weeks. The coaches are very helpful and it's a friendly environment. I am so happy I decided to join. More...

Private Training is the most direct way to achieve your individual fitness goals. We work with a range of private clients, from the athlete interested in expanding his/her overall fitness, to people who are brand new to fitness. Our industry-recognized coaches help you define your goals, design and customized program for you and personally guide you on your fitness journey. Your coach ensures that each session is as effective and efficient as possible.

CrossFit Class is the core of our CrossFit program. This class is focused on functional CrossFit movements, which are in turn, the core movements of our daily lives. The CrossFit program selects the most effective exercises from multiple workouts and sports regimens. The activities range from metabolic conditioning (“cardio”) to gymnastics, from Olympic weightlifting to rowing, running and more. Workouts are constantly varied—so it never gets boring because it’s never the same twice! The result—increased overall fitness, which literally makes your daily life easier, your clothes fit better and your body starts reshaping.

Boot Camp develops core strength and endurance while priming the body for fat loss. The program focuses on metabolic conditioning, body weight-based exercises, and functional moves. The classes are intense but really fun and can be adapted to physical ability and any individual needs. We’re results-driven—and each session optimized your workout, moving boot campers through functional fitness movements and strength and body weight-based techniques. Our boot campers find that the program helps them achieve peak physical and mental performance—and appreciate the expert, focused coaching. Concretely, Boot Camp will teach you how to create and sustain a healthy, active lifestyle.
