I've been a member of Hygge for about 18 months now. I am also 18 months into CrossFit as well. I have to say that it was nerve wracking coming in to try it, but once I got there the nerves went away. not because I got it right away or picked it up with ease. it was because of the place. it was because of the people there, people who are great. it was majorly due to the coaches. Lindsey, Sean, Dana, Heather and Lauren who make this place go. it's positive, it's tough, it's encouraging, it's what you don't get going to a normal gym (which I tried and failed at). so suffice to say, I highly recommend you check it out! Hygge.fit is the place I decided to join when I've tried everything else. i first started to lose weight but after a few months, I got addicted to what potential my body could do. I no longer look at the scale of what I weigh but more at the plates of what I can lift. The coaches are so positive, helpful and knowledgeable that they push you to what YOU are capable of, not what they want you to do. They help aid and modify your movements if you have an injury and help you go at your pace and no one else's. Plus, my girls (6 & 4) get to come with me and get to see what beauty and body positivity really looks like rather than getting it from somewhere else. I was a non-believer. Refused to try Crossfit, said it was a cult, whatever. I was very, very wrong (I mean, it's a cult sort of but a good one). This place changed my life y'all. In 12 mos I lost 10lbs (8% of my body weight), 4.4% body fat, my arms look legit, and I saw an ab. I've also now dropped in to other boxes and while I always suspected how good we have it at Hygge, now I know for sure. I started here because I reached some powerlifting goals and knew I needed coaching to continue properly. And coaching I got. Well planned, measurable, dedicated coaching; quarterly sessions, emails, advice and tons and tons of great training and support. Tommy, Lauren, Dana, Russ: you guys have helped me change the course of my physical abilities. Crossfit (and your work) gave me control over my body and helped me rehab injuries. Nothing I do (lifting stuff at home, carrying luggage up stairs, anything heavy) is hard anymore and it's an incredible feeling to know you are truly strong and capable. I am a convert for life because of this crew. If you have doubts go in. These guys care so much about what they do and you as an individual. You will feel like you suck at first, until one day you can do a rope climb, a handstand pushup, a pullup, a ring dip, any of it. Crossfit was introduced to me by some of my friends back in India, I still remember the first day I joined Crossfit Hygge at Mount Laurel Lauren was introducing me to the workouts and it was great though I was very sore I kept going. How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
We believe in building trust and relationships to help you towards your fitness goals. Yes, we offer the best group classes and personal training around but we also support them with quarterly review meetings, body composition scans, and a nutrition jumpstart. All of these things plus our full-time coaches allow us to really get to know you - who you are, what your goals are, and any injuries/limitations we are working with.
What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?
Workouts with a purpose and intensity + Nutrition - thats it and we supply you with both.
What do you love most about your job?
Our goal is to help each athlete find their win everyday. A win can be something as small as showing up to the gym for the day or as big as hitting a PR (personal record). As long as you find a win everyday in your workout, you will walk out feeling accomplished, build a routine, and see results.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was in a really bad car accident that left me with herniated and bulging discs. After spending a year in debilitating pain, I decided I had to do something about it and I began pouring over anything I could get my hands on in regards to mobility, stability, and training. A year later, I was doing things I thought I would never be able to do again like running and deadlifting and I wanted to make sure no one felt like they were done being active for the rest of their life too.
