We came to the class as a family. It has been great for me who is starting to travel more widely and give me an awareness of the dangers.

Found almost by accident after passing by several weeks. Looked forward picking up some martial arts/self defence classes and this one seemed like a good option so gave it a go. Was nicely surprised by Steve's simple, yet very effective teaching methods and decided to carry on.Highly recommend to anyone looking for great self defence classes with friendly and welcoming group! Hi everyone! This was my first experience with Krav Maga and I must say that I love it.I had been looking for a while for some type of martial art that could teach me how to behave in a situation where your in danger. In this lessons, Steve (our instructor) shows us everything about how to handle ourselves in stressful scenarios, from knife attack to choke.Altough his focus is on the physical approach (the technique), we also go through the mental factor, which is really important as well.Steve's teaching style is great and his lessons are structured in a way you always learn. We start with a little staging of a situation where he shows us the movements we need to overcome the attack and explains us the reasons behind them. And then we get to practice these movements until we master them.Great lessons! More...

Easy to pick up classes whether you are absolute beginner, or have any martial arts background. Not overwhelming amount of different techniques, yet using very basic-looking (yet effective! ) moves to get out of sticky situation ASAP. Friendly group to train with. More...

I highly recommend you try out this class!!'Cross Krav Maga' is a unique development of the highly adaptable and ever evolving 'Krav Maga' that has been in existence since the 1940's in Isreal. If it's good enough for the Israeli Defence Force to defend themselves in hand to hand combat up to this day then it's good enough for anyone.Krav Maga is designed to be the simplest and most effective way for the old, young, fit, unfit, untrained or highly trained individual to defend themselves. Based on the principle that each defence movement should be born out of natural flinch reflexes, and be simple to recall in high stress situations with little or no recurrent training, it's easy to see why it has been adopted world wide by military and civilian forces alike. The founder of Krav Maga intended for it to prove it's worth and adapt to the situations that called for it's use. In that spirit, 'Cross Krav Maga' (CKM) keeps abreast of the most likely conflict situations to be encountered in the UK and whilst on trips abroad. From your first free lesson you are welcomed into a friendly and respectful atmosphere where each member encourages the other through learning and practicing the techniques. My first lesson happened to be escape from a full on frontal choke, it was fun, very interesting and most of all empowering to realise that anyone can learn what to do no matter your age or condition. If you are looking for something to apply yourself to, meet good people, learn to have improved awareness and physical confidence, all whilst having fun and improving your fitness then what are you waiting for? Check out Cross Krav Maga and have a Wiki read on 'Krav Maga'. I don't think you'll regret it.P.S. Ultimate Fighting Heavyweight Champion Bas Rutten went on to train in Krav Maga 'after' his UFC career. If that's not an endorsement then I'm not sure what is. More...

After researching local martial arts and self defense clubs I opted for a free "taster" session with CKM. I joined the club straight after and I've not missed a session since. Steve (the instructor) brings a wealth of experience (and humour) and delivers lessons that are well structured. We are all here to learn rather than exercise our egos so we work well as a team. If you are interested in learning how to avoid confrontation by reading the signs or, if unavoidable, deal with aggressors quickly then I would recommend that you try CKM. More...

Really friendly atmosphere at these classes, Steve is a great instructor and explains everything at a speed the class understands. Great big hall to train in and the training is suitable for anyone who wants to feel more confident walking down the street. The training is totally reality based meaning that if a student asks "but what if...." the instructor will actually give them an answer rather than some clubs where the answer would be "that's not what we're learning at the moment". The Cross Krav Maga system trains you for real life so it doesn't force you to learn rigid routines, rather a set of techniques that can be adapted to any situation. Definitely recommend to anyone! Having trained in the Cross Krav Maga system for the past 3 years, I can say with confidence that anyone willing to learn this defence system will not find a better place to train. This is a system which is simple, effective and quite honestly could save your life if the time came where you were forced to fight for it.The instructors are friendly & incredibly knowledgeable in the art of krav maga and other fighting systems. They work hard to pressure test the systems techniques to ensure they work in real world self defence situations and train constantly themselves to better their approaches to training and to evolve the system. This ensures you're getting the best coaching available. Serious stuff out the way they are a good bunch of blokes and have an excellent sense of humour. One of the best things I've done for myself and can't recommend enough. More...

Q&As

I love teaching new skills to my students that will hopefully one day help them defend themselves against an attacker who is set out to harm them.
I have trained in several martial arts and i'm an instructor in several self defence systems, the skills i have learned have provided me with knowledge which i am glad to pass on, and watching my students develop through the system from scratch gives me a huge sense of achievement and makes me extremely proud.

My instructor Keith Collyer gave me the skills and the kick i needed to start this business off. He assured me i could do it and had every bit of faith in me. This certainly was the first reason why i started the business. The second was the effort, knowledge and money i put in throughout my years of training had to be for more than just personal gain. I felt i needed to pass this all on to others and help them to fight back against bullies.
