I had problems with damp and condensation in my bathroom. Craig come to our cottage following a concern that we may have damp. Craig arrived early and was thoroughly pleasant. He reviewed our perceived damp problem thoroughly and advised that no work was necessary and that we just need to manage the problem with heating and ventilation (our property is a 300 year old thatched cob cottage). At this stage all I needed was a brief survey and some advice. Craig of CPH was timely, courteous, professional, and helpful. Craig has restored my faith in tradespeople!
He arrived on time and was very courteous.
I explained my issue being a damp patch on a cob wall which had been getting worse over time. We spoke about factors that may be causing it and he explained the works that he could carry out to remedy it. He also explained the nature of cob and how environmental factors can impact on the efficiency of how cob houses are meant to work. All of which was in language I could understand.
Ultimately Craig will not be carrying out the works just yet as he advised that if I resolve a different environmental issue I have that may in fact result in resolving my damp problem so I am going to try that first.
If however after trying the alternative I still have the problem I will not hesitate to contact Craig again to carry out works. More...

I contacted Craig as staining on my stairway wallpaper was getting worse following heavy rains and my under stair cupboard became musty and damp. One look by him confirmed our thoughts as the patches corresponded with areas on the outside of the wall which had been sealed when wall insulation was done many years ago.

Craig together with Ian worked to a very high standard stripping back the wall removing the damp insulating material before drying, sealing, venting, boarding and plastering.

Craig visited our house promptly to do a free site survey. He took his time to inspect the root causes of our damp problem, which are quite complex. Other builders we had round only discussed the bits they felt confident about discussing/fixing and we feel they would not have permanently solved the damp problem. Craig is very professional and has a good style of communication, and seems to have really strong knowledge in this area.
