Corpus Christi Family Martial Arts is the only academy in town when it comes to professional self-defense for families. We started this foundation in order for local children and adults to protect themselves against others.

My children have been attending this dojo for six months and I could not love this place more! Grandmaster Timmerman and Sensei Green treat this dojo as a family. They have a wonderful staff, professional, knowledgable and caring! They don't just teach martial arts techniques, they show real-world application in self-defense and give advice and guidance along the way. Been a student here since January 2015 and have enjoyed every day there since. With the master offering tai chi, krav maga, kung fu, karate and japanese jiu-jitsu, there's always something for both newcomers and senior students to work on. Above all else, the children really enjoy their time there coming with plenty of energy and leaving with a smile on everyone's face.I highly recommend everyone at the very least give our dojo a look. I started martial arts in 1999, moved here from Louisiana in 2002 and started at another dojo around that time-frame. There, I obtained my first black belt. My practice and form were dwindling so I'm now enrolled in Corpus Christi Family Martial Arts. Here, I hope to get back into shape and get back into practice. The system/curriculum/techniques they teach are 1) quite a variety of different fighting styles, and 2) the styles are not only derived from the root of where the martial arts style originated from, but they've been modified and tweaked, so that they may be more applied more effectively. Krav Maga is something I've sought for for quite a while, and Grand Master, and Sensei Green are excellent teachers to learn from. All teachers here are well engaged in conversation with students and care to learn what your personal goals are. I've met a handful of teachers/masters/sensei's, and students since I've been here, and they're all very skilled and knowledgeable. They have a great program for your youth, one that teaches discipline, respect, and all other mentalities necessary to someone who may need to defend themselves. With this dojo patience is a key virtue, and Sensei's, Masters, and Teachers here are great at working with you until you're comfortable you have techniques down comfortable. They do incorporate and encourage weaponry training, but more importantly they teach you how to evade and counter while being attacked with multiple weapons. There's a whole agenda I want to get accomplished here, and I know that I will have the tools necessary to do so. 5 stars, an excellent self defense program. Our family have been members at CCFMAA for over a year now and one of things that keeps us wanting to come back is the genuine personal welcome you are extended each and every time you walk into the dojo. Everyone regardless of age, body type,skill level, gender are all given personal attention and encouragement to go farther and achieve greatness. This school is not a "flashy" school but a dedicated institution for learning real life self defense tactics that derive from many martial arts disciplines that have been carefully blended over many years by our schools founder and Grandmaster Sensei Mark Timmerman. I was a serious martial arts student when I was a much younger man, and recently decided to return to training after a nearly 25 year hiatus. After visiting nearly every martial arts school of every style that I could find in the Corpus Christi area I chose Corpus Christi Family Martial Arts Academy. The style and techniques that are taught are both practical and relevant, and are taught with the students skill and maturity level always as a forethought of the lessons. The thing that has impressed the most about the dojo, and continues to do so, is the real feeling of community and genuine family. Starting with the first contact with Grandmaster Timmerman and continuing with every interaction I have had with all the students, Sensei Green and Sensei Nick, and parents of students has been truly respectful and honestly pleasant. Being a part of this Martial Arts Academy is by far one of the most amazing experiences I've had. It is so nice to know that Corpus Christi has such a place where families can learn the art of Kung Fu together. Not only are they family oriented but they teach several styles of martial arts to all ages. The atmosphere there is very inviting and they have different kinds of events for adults and kids. The staff and teachers are very friendly and helpful and the packages are affordable. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to learn or improve their martial arts skills. More...

VERY IMPRESSIVE!!! Not only does my young daughter have fun every time she's at class, she is learning how to avoid being kidnapped and defend herself against a possible bad situation. She is learning the difference between a serious situation and a bullying situation, and she is learning how to react accordingly. . . all while having fun!! I have noticed that there is a true sense of family at this facility. Everyone is very welcoming, friendly, and easy to be around. They have family events other than classes that really help everyone get to know each other, too!!
