We are Jo and Julian and we run copper media. We're a family business and we work across marketing, communications and graphic design, dealing with all aspects of creative design and copywriting including project management for jobs of all sizes.
Julian will work with you on the design of logos, invitations, posters and flyers, prospectuses and handbooks, brochures and business stationery, websites and digital communications.
Jo is the wordsmith and supports clients with marketing, copy writing and content generation for print and online use.
We’ve done it all – made the tea, cried about copy, midnight sessions to meet tight deadlines, presented to hundreds of people about marketing, argued about who is making lunch (or taking the dog out), managed website relaunches, designed wedding invitations and forty-page brochures. You get the picture.

Describe your creative process.
The design process is supported by a two way relationship between us and the clients, who we ask to provide as much insight and feedback throughout. Every job begins with developing a creative brief and we will ask you to spend a little time thinking about your business, your audience, your objectives and the scope of the work. Once the brief is agreed we will develop some concepts as part of a first response which will help us establish a look and feel without going into too much detail. We will ask for your thoughts on elements like use of colour, typefaces, style, use of photography, and layout. Once an appropriate style or look has been agreed the project will proceed through a number of drafts until we arrive at something you love! We ask clients to be involved throughout because then we know that there will be something of them in the final artwork
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
It's so helpful to have as much background as possible. This will be 'hard' information such as the number of pieces of print you might need or the deadline but it will be your thoughts and ideas that will support and inform the beginning of the creative process. We might ask you to put together a mood board of images or colours, guide us on look and feel, send us your brand guidelines (if you have them) or point us towards anything that delights or inspires you.
What do you love most about your job?
We're small and we like that.
We love working on briefs that we can get really get behind, forming a project team with the client for the duration of the job.
But most of all we love words and images.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We knew that we had skills that were complementary and believed that working together in a small business was the best way to ensure that our jobs fully reflect our skills and ambitions. With young children (and a dog) we also wanted to work in a way that would allow us flexibility.

Our client get our full attention for the full duration of the job. You'll deal directly with Jo for writing or content projects or with Julian for graphic design jobs. We value our clients and work hard to ensure we deliver on every aspect of a project and at a reasonable price.
