Q&As

COPE Centre is a multi-disciplinary practice that offers the highest level of psychological and mental health care, extending beyond the alleviation of symptoms. Our mission is to reduce emotional suffering and enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and society. We achieve this through the utilisation of psychoanalytic psychotherapy, a clinical approach that is both widely applicable and continuously evolving, providing a profound understanding of the human experience and fostering lasting change.

Our holistic approach acknowledges developmental and relational issues. Our comprehensive approach to mental health and well-being considers all aspects of a person’s life and experiences. We are hoping not to only address symptoms of mental health issues but also the individual’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

We genuinely believe that physical health, emotional well-being, social support, spiritual and existential needs, lifestyle factors, cultural sensitivity, early interventions, preventive and promotive measures, collaborative care and patient-centred care are central for adjustment and functioning in everyday life.

Creative Arts Therapy makes use of different creative media to support healing when words are not enough. Arts Therapy proves especially effective in Trauma work, where creativity can be safely applied to build a bridge between body, mind and soul. Additionally, the language of art allows clients in multicultural contexts to feel felt and connected to themselves and others. Arts Therapy is a therapeutic process that integrates creative expression with psychoanalytic techniques. There are different modalities like visual artmaking, drama, dance and movement.

Creative Arts Therapy helps to develop new coping strategies. The creative process includes drawing, painting, crafting, colouring, sculpting, or collage. As clients create art, they foster self-expression and insight. They may reflect on what they have made and discern how it makes them feel. By exploring their art, people discover various new and old ideas and beliefs, which may be affecting their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours consciously or subconsciously.

Children will use different materials and media to foster creativity and play and improve fine and gross motor skills and verbal articulation.
The therapist engages with the child through playful ways and observes the behaviour and action/reaction of the child in various situations that evolve through play. Play Therapy allows the child to gain insight into how they truly feel, think or act. This helps them gain self-acceptance and the ability to move forward in their lives.
