I have been using them for years. Last year I had trouble getting just the right shade of green, mixing colours at home until I got what I needed. All I needed was one litre of paint. And it had to match a colour that had been on the exterior of the house for ten years, after being wind-beaten and faded by the sun. Most stores would have just laughed at me. But not Tosha. She worked on matching that one litre of paint to the chip of paint I'd brought in as a reference - until she got it just right. She added extra tints in tiny increments, slowly and methodically, and it took a few tries (she's a total perfectionist) but the end result was absolutely astonishing. A PERFECT match. Oh - I forgot to mention that I wasn't "exactly" sure of the original colour, so it was a real shot in the dark. This store has been around for a long time, and Tosha and her wonderful grandfather are known as the go-to paint experts in the Beaches neighborhood. They're always welcoming, always ready to make you feel like you've come to the right place. And they'll go out of their way for everyone - even someone like me, who's come in to buy exactly one litre of paint. Highly, enthusiastically recommended! More...

A family owned business directly across from a big box store lasting this long has got to be a good sign!We wanted to repaint all our interior rooms, and Tasha was fantastic.
Never tried to up sell, never rushed us to make decisions, and gave us lots of tips about choosing colours (and what to think about).Reasonable prices for BM paints- would strongly recommend Cooke's.

THE place to get paint on the Danforth. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and care about helping you choose the right product for the job. We received great colour advice from the staff, and our kitchen turned out better than we could have hoped! This is a great store with very experienced staff that can give expert advice on all painting applications and have top quality products. Cheaper wall paint can be purchased anywhere. That's not the focus of what they sell. They have a good selection of mid to top quality paint products and finishes and also wallpapers, adhesives and accessories. Proprietor Tom, has many years of personal painting experience. This is the best store in this area of Danforth and east of Main St., across from Canadian Tire.and available close street parking  They can give you good advice on what products to use and preparation and application techniques. I consulted with Tasha at Cook's Wallpaper & Paints on the danforth about ordering and hanging wallpaper in my front entrance. Even though they did not have what I was looking for in their numerous books she called around and found it for me and ordered it from the UK! She took me, a novice at hanging wallpaper through the whole process step-by-step (and was very patient while I made notes) and she answered all of my many thousands of questions. Not only was she very knowledgable but she also offered to come and assist me after work if I ran into any problems, which took my anxiety level down so much and made me much more relaxed about the whole process. My wife and I were repainting our basement walls & kitchen cupboards. We had a heck of a time properly re-working the cupboards since they were finished plywood, but with the help of Tom & all the employees at Cook's paints, we solved the problem, and learned some great tips! I've been using Cook's for all my paint needs because of the knowledgeable staff and good advice. Only once did I encounter someone there who was less than pleasant & had the wrong information to boot, and one of the regulars immediately rushed from the back to give me the correct information.

We love cooks paint on Danforth. We can walk in knowing nothing about the task that we are about to undertake, and walk out with the knowledge and skill to complete the job.
Painting seems like a simple task upfront, but I love the gentle prompting questions of the staff as they help you select exactly the paint that will work for the job.
My 16 year old son just had his first "painting his room' experience, and they were awesome with him. He went up on his own, chose some outrageous colours, had them mix glossy and flat and purchased tape and brushes etc. They were thoughtful and supportive... except that I think that they could have steered him out of the lime green, royal blue, red colour scheme!! :)
