"Loved it" is not really appropriate for a cemetery, but it is well worth a visit. Wide paths give room for walkers, joggers and bloody dangerous cyclists. There are many eminent people commemorated there, e.g. Bernard Levin, John (cholera) Snow, Emeline Pankhurst and John (Almanac) Wisden. Also a fine café and a gift shop that sells books, cards and even somewhat oddly designed Christmas cards. I had to have some. More...

Wild and mysterious are two great words used to describe this place. It’s traditionally beautiful but also left to nature in parts. Has some mysterious tombs ( one of which an apparent time machine ).Great paths and well maintained where it needs to be with long grass in others. Good for wild life and a great place to come for a goth drink Peaceful and a good place to pick blackberries. And good to walk through as a short cut as well. More...

Nutkin? More...

I got locked into the cemetery and loved it! Just call the fire brigade if you can't scale 4m high walls ¯\_(ツ)_/¯May I suggest to the Royal Parks organisation who run it to maybe DON'T drive straight past visitors without saying anything when you're about to lock up, put a slightly bigger opening hours sign up, install a one-way-exit door, and don't advertise an emergency/out of hours phone number if you're not going to pick up. .. Cos there were 3 groups of people locked in on the same summer evening, and the fire brigade wasn't impressed by you. More...

So much to see and so many picture opportunities. It really is a wonderful afternoon out hearing about various famous Victorians and what they did in life. Lots of marvalous tombs, a nice chapel and hundreds of headstones some of which have started to decay with nature and polution.A definte spot for quiet contemplation and to learn.
