Years ago my friends and I caught a late show of Opa at Magic Castle and were blown away by not only his rope tricks, but his wit- we never stopped bringing him up in conversation ever since. My friends and I booked Phil for a virtual show over zoom during the quarantine, and it was honestly the most entertaining thing I' ve done since this pandemic began. Phil is so funny and so much fun to watch! His magic is terrific and his jokes are even better. Oh my gosh, we had such a great time watching Phil do a Zoom Performance last night.  My son had seen him at the Magic Castle and told us how great he was.  Chris invited us over for a private showing, and set up the Zoom Call on the projector outside.   Phil was literally bigger than life against the back of the house, and his magic was outstanding.  I'm so excited I got a chance to see him perform (via Zoom).  El Ropo was fantastic, and had me laughing the whole time.  The combination of his magical talents and sense of humor was a winning combination!I am definitely a fan!!! Phil is my favorite magician EVER. I first saw him at the magic castle a few years ago, and he was by far my favorite magician that night. Since then, I've visited the magic castle many times, and he's still always the highlight of my night there. Everyone I've ever brought to the magic castle also agrees with me and finds his shows to be the most impressive and most memorable. He's also such a kind person, and he'll always stick around to do a few more magic tricks if we ask, even if he's on his way out at the end of the night. Recently I got the opportunity to watch him do a zoom magic show (since obviously the magic castle is closed during this quarantine time), and it brightened everyone's mood immediately to watch his unbelievable magic tricks along with his hilarious jokes. His magic still blows me away, even after all these years and watching super carefully without drinking any alcohol! I think hiring him to do a zoom magic show for someone's birthday party would be a great idea during this time (I know that's what I'll ask him to do next January if we're still doing this, otherwise I'll ask if we can do an in-person one). I first heard of Phil, AKA El Ropo, when he was featured on my favorite podcast, #tbtl. One of the hosts raved about his clever mix of comedy and magic after seeing a Magic Castle performance. He said El Ropo was a "clean" comic and was best part of his Magic Castle visit. My relative, Autumn Morning Star, is also a magician and I asked if she happened to know him. Autumn said he is one of the kindest people she has met in the business. Well, then I showed some of his youtube videos to my kids and they became utterly obsessed. They made up their own rope tricks and sprinkled in plenty of dad jokes. Then, to be honest, I forgot about El Ropo for awhile until the COVID-19 crisis. Phil put on a free show via Zoom for anyone who wanted to join. What a kind generous gesture and exactly what we needed. Kids were on the line asking questions and telling their own jokes. I recently enjoyed my fIrst time at the magic castle and Phil van tee was one of my favorite magicians! He didn't have his own whole room or anything, but he usually performs at the side tables around the castle (so if you see him, definitely take some time to watch! ). He has a gentle but hilarious humor about him and his act is a bit more intimate and close-up, which I liked. I met Phil about a year ago at Magic Castle and fell in love with his magic. I decided to invite him for my father's 70th birthday party on January 8th, 2020. The words cannot describe accurately how much fun, laughter, and astounding magic Phil brought to the party. The guests keep raving about his performance even now. Everyone loved Phil's performance. His magic is accompanied by humor and guests could not stop laughing and could not stop being entertained and intrigued by his magic. Phil is great! I haven't even had the chance to see phil in action- But I have heard the best things!  This review is about his professionalism, kindness, and generosity.  I called Phil to try and book him on short notice but he wasn't available.  He kindly invited me and up to five guests to the magic castle simply for calling and expressing interest.  He then proceeded to complete paperwork to try and get a donation of passes to myKids public school gala.  He doesn't even know me!  He is a gem and I cannot wait time see him in action. Phil Is one of the best slight of hand artists I've seen. He does a great job of keeping the audience engaged with participation and laughter. I was able to see his act at the Magic Castle. This is a long overdue review for Phil Van Tee, he was amazing! A couple of our friends from New York were visiting LA so we brought them to the magic castle. We stumbled upon Phil's show and I had the pleasure to participate as an assistant during the show. It was so intriguing to begin with... the magic and the jokes. I have seen Phil at the Magic castle twice now. His act was different both times. What didn't change was how engaging and funny he was. He has an amazing wit and charm. I saw the magician Phil Van Tee at his table in the magic castle and his magic was amazing. It was the type of magic that was timeless and would never get tired of. I still don't know how he did it but I'd be happy to go watch it again the next time I see him. The friend I was with has been at the magic castle multiple times and he said while he's there, he always stops by to watch Magician Phil and I can see why. I was lucky enough to be apart of his act and it was the very first time I had ever been chosen to be apart of an act and it made the experience super special to me.
