Cobalt Carbon Free Q&A

Cobalt Carbon Free Q&A

How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?

The main factors that affect the suitability of a loft conversion are the available head height, the pitch angle of the roof and the roof structure of the property. The minimum head height for a loft conversion should be 2.2 meters; usually the higher the pitch angle of the roof, the higher the head height. A dormer can be used to increase both floor and head space, however this process involves altering the existing roof.

In pre-1960’s houses the roof is usually a traditional framed structure. These types of structures can easily be strengthened and are often the most suitable for conversions. In homes build after the 1960’s, the roof is more likely to be made using thinner, cheaper frames. This means the space needs more support and structural work.

Why should our clients choose you?

Cobalt Carbon Free design and build projects ranging from dormer loft conversions to complete building renovations. Our construction team are highly skilled in a wide range of building disciplines and are equip for any task, whether you’re hoping for a small change or a grand design.

When possible we always prefer to use our own in-house design team along with our onsite build team from the very start of each project. This allows Cobalt Carbon Free to be there at every stage of the project, right through to the end. We’ll assign a project manager to coordinate and manage everything, ensuring that all work is running to a schedule and produced to the same high quality standard.

We want all of our customer’s to have peace of mind, so you’ll be kept up to date with progress reports and schedule updates whenever necessary. You can also expect to have regular contact with the project manager and the team at our head office as the project progresses.
