About CMB Designs

I work with small business owners (3-5 years in) who are struggling with projecting a consistent image.
Qualified in design with many years of design and marketing experience under my belt my speciality is design for print and branding. I have spent over 10 years designing for print including leaflets, adverts, packaging and catalogues. With experience in digital media and email marketing I am able to create cohesive design packages for brands that work across multiple platforms.
I am a freelance designer and I love to work collaboratively with my clients. I'm open to any freelance opportunities or contract work so please contact me if you think there is something I could work with you on and we can discuss it in further detail.

Describe your creative process.
I like to have a conversation with the potential client first to get more details on the project. After this I'm able to go away and put together a mood board or hand drawn concepts depending on the project to present to the client which we will then have a one-to-one meeting or telephone call about. After this I will send the proposal outlining the deliverables and a project schedule to which the client agrees to by paying a 40% deposit and work begins.
I work very collaboratively with my clients and listen to their ideas whilst guiding them with my design knowledge.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
I need to know what the company does, who their competitors are, what their unique selling point is. What their brand is? Are you funky or traditional, classic or contemporary, bold or subtle, hard or soft, female or male. I have a brand identity questionnaire that helps me get to know your brand which I send out for completion before work begins.
What do you love most about your job?
I empower people with great ideas brought to life. Enlighten them to what can be achieved and what great design can do for their business. I follow the latest design and marketing trends.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired by the need to escape from the reins of being employed. To let my creativity explode.

Packaging artwork for own brand ranges, liasing with manufacturers in China and partner companies in USA and Australia to create designs that worked in all markets, involved knowledge of UK law for packaging marking and print processes. Creation of brochures, leaflets and 304 page product catalogue using InDesign and InData and InCatalog plugins. Adverts for national modelling magazines, knowledge of the print process requirements. Product photography, static studio shots and action shots, knowing how to get the correct image composition, depth of field & exposure to create attractive product shots. Creation of the company social media section, enabling them to reach consumers and engage on a more personal level. Managed multiple projects simultaneously.
