I have been taking nose work classes with Janet since 2013, I began with my reactive dog, and finding the sport was the best thing that happened for us, it was really "our thing". Janet is a great teacher, and was supportive and understanding of having a reactive dog in the class. I have been training in scent detection with Janet Parker @ Clever Canine for the past year. My dog is older and Janet makes every class such a great learning experience and so much fun, that my dog leaps out of the car and can't wait for her turn. Janet is great at assessing the skill levels of each dog and handler and has a wealth of knowledge to impart which she does in a positive and caring manner. I first met Janet through her puppy classes back when my now 11-year-old Wheaten Terrier was a baby. It was a great class, very positive and fun, and I especially liked her follow-up class because it was "out and about" in real situations in the real world: very practical and helpful with a slightly wild and crazy terrier! Janet is endlessly patient, using humane, positive reinforcement techniques delivered with warmth and humour. Lately we have begun Janet's Nosework classes which I can not recommend highly enough. Janet has an amazing ability to focus on each dog and translate their behaviours for us, helping each handler to notice what their dog is telling them as they search. I did Nosework and training with Janet! I did the nosework class with our goofy and high-energy Basset mix Clyde. It was a blast watching him figure it out.
When we got a new puppy, who was a little a couple months too old for the puppy class, we took her to Janet's training class along with our dog Clyde. Even though Clyde had been through basic obedience before, Clyde's very excitable and I was interested in this class because there was a "distractions" component which was perfect for him.
It was beneficial taking them both to the same class (each with their own handler of course) because it also taught them that they can be together without playing together.

Janet trained me and my dog, Einstein, for scentwork. Her classes and methods were effective fun. She gave us the tools we needed to to have fun and succeed in this sport and a bond with with my pup as a partner.
