Just come back from a one night stay. Amazing hotel, lovely room, comfy bed and very clean throughout. Perfect for staying right in the city centre if you’re planning on going to see a concert like we did, the train station is basically right next door and the Motorpoint Arena is just around the corner. Would love to stay here again!! Thank you More...

Rooms and service very good, would recommend if you don’t require a car park or don’t mind paying £11 a night at the Cardiff central train station (probably the nearest).

Christmas party last night and overnight stay. This must have been one of the best hotel Chistmas events I have ever attended. From arrival to the end of the evening the staff have been amazing. A big shout out to Sue (you must be given a pay rise) she was brilliant. The staff were so welcoming, food amazeballs, hotel location fabulous for pre party shopping, Party room just the right size, great disco. Our room is comfortable, clean with everything we needed. Cannot find any fault, would highly recommend and can't wait to return. More...

Just recently back from two nights stay in Cardiff. I was not curtain what to expect and because I work in hospitality I try not to read reviews beforehand. Our experience was amazing. The closeness to the train station was ideal as I was traveling with two young children and heavy bags. The check in was quick easy and the lovely person on reception got my children a small activity pack each when she spotted the two children. We got to our room on floor 9 with a view of train tracks, waterfall roundabout and in the distance the water. Bottled water, tea, coffee, body wash, towels and shampoo/conditioner all in the room. We could hear showers and hairdryers in other surrounding rooms and people using ice machine as well(but this was neer our door) and train noises but non of these were an issue for our stay. Breakfast was great plenty of everything available. Waitress/waiters on the ball with clearing dishes and plates. We ate one evening and everything was fine and nice service. They brought out my children's pizza first so they could have time for it to cool and so they weren't waiting as long. Prices were as you expect in this type of establishment. Both shower and bath were great no issues with water preasure. Nicely stocked vending machine in lobby with a selection of sugary snacks and drinks. I am on a road to reducing my personal waste at home and on the go and good you see you are making small steps to do the same as a buisness and hope that is within the whole franchise of hotels. The water bottles and other eco consious items and practises were noted and were appriciated. Housekeeping worked perfectly around our abundance of bits and bobs we had to travel with. Thank you to all the staff we encountered and for the people behind the scenes. More...

Had a superb afternoon tea here with a Groupon voucher. It is a little more expensive than other establishments offering afternoon tea on Groupon but it is well worth it! Everything was beautifully fresh and tasted as if it had been made on the premises by talented chefs. There was more than enough food and neither of us managed to finish everything. The service was excellent and it is good to know you can have as many refills of your teapot as you require. The teapots (one each) were a good size and the tea arrived piping hot and stayed hot for long enough to empty the pot. The tea was Twinings Breakfast blend, my favourite, as it doesn’t stew. There was also plenty of milk provided. All in all, I couldn’t fault afternoon tea at the Clayton Hotel and will definitely recommend it to friends. More...

My friend and I stayed here for an Ed Sherran concert. The hotel is fantastic! Excellent customer service and prompt check in. We had complimentary prosecco and biscuits while we waited in the short que! Our room was lovely, great size and spotless! We were very surprised to find a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us and also a box of chocolates! A lovely touch, thank you.
The restaurant food was also excellent and with room service.
Hotel location is perfect, very close to everything and a 24hr car park at the train station is just 5 min walk around the corner.
Highly recommend and will be back!

Myself and my fiancee stayed here to see Ed sheeran perform on 22nd June.

Check in was quick, Given complimentary glass of prosecco and choice of which floor we'd like to stay on. Notice on the board in regards to the performance such as times the gates opened etc which was great.

The hotel was very clean, the room was clean and of a nice size.

We felt quite hot so spoke to reception to see if there where any windows we could open, i was advised none of the windows open in the hotel but was offered a desk fan and this was sent up to our room which was greatly appreciated as it worked wonders!

The reception staff where very welcoming and accommodating to our needs and nothing was too much trouble.

The only two niggles i have is the price we paid for the night, which to be fair all hotels increase their prices when events are on, but this is a 4* hotel and you pay for what you get.

And that the shower head is non detachable so some guests may feel this doesn't reach all the areas you'd like.

We had a lovely stay and if we return to Cardiff would definitely stay here again

Well where do I start. The Clayton Hotel have been helping me plan my dream wedding for three years and each and every member of staff put in so much effort and made the day amazingly beautiful. I would have been lost without Sue and Rebecca on the day and made me feel so calm. They come up to my room the morning off to see me and sorted out the wedding cars. They helped welcome all the guests and I wouldn't have been so calm without them. The hotel was lovely and clean and the bedroom was lovely with a brilliant view. The food was incredible both the wedding food and the breakfast the morning after. I cannot wait to go back, had such a brilliant 2 days staying in this hotel!!! More...

Great location for central cardiff. Bang on the party street with pubs and clubs galore. Close to shopping areas to and all large music stadiums are within easy walk. Parking easy at nearby centrasl train station. All the usual large hotel amenities as you would expect. Rooms clean modern and spacious. Be prepared to wait for the lift though as it is a large tall building and if your near the top it becomes a must.Staff friendly and helpful. Bar well stocked and breakfast had all the options for the grease monkey or the health nut. Would use this hotel again. More...

The Clayton is within five minutes of Central Station so easy access if you arrive by Rail. Check was smooth and the lifts operate via the room cards. I was in room 802 and although I had a view of other rooms and almost nothing else it was clean and reasonable in decor. Everything worked in the room so no complaints from me. Dinner in the hotel was in my opinion overpriced for what you received although everything was cooked well and tasted OK to have to order vegetables as a side was not to my liking. I ended up having to visit a local supermarket to top off my dinner which wasn't the best. Staff were courteous and I would happily return just wouldn't take dinner in the hotel again. More...

I checked in on Friday 9th April, the man who checked us in was so lovely and helpful regarding places to go and where to take the children. That night I had a couple of issues with my room so in the morning I told the lady at the front desk (I think her name was Cat) who immediately asked if I wanted to change rooms, as I was going out she said that it would be ready when I returned later. While I was out I received a phone call to confirm that my room was ready, I was so impress! When I arrived back the room we had been given was lovely, the bed was sooo comfy. The breakfast every morning was fresh and very tasty, my children are picky eaters but they ate as the choices where very good. Would I go back again? Absolutely! More...

The hotel is helpfully situated right next to Cardiff Central Station. Staff were very polite and welcoming. The rooms are a little smaller than some chain hotels but perfectly functional and clean. My only complaint was that our end room was wonky due to the shape of the building, which was made more obvious by the striped carpets, but that's just me! If you're after a good view, make sure you request a room that isn't overlooking the busy rail tracks, the view from the bar and dining room however was great for people watching. We had afternoon tea and breakfast in the restaurant which were both of a high standard and even at what appeared to be a busy time of the morning, food was hot, fresh and plentiful. Lovely hotel with helpful staff. It is literally 5 minutes' walk from Cardiff Central station - you come out of the station's main entrance, look to your right and you will see it. The hotel is also within walking distance of a large shopping centre and lots of eateries. You could also walk to Cardiff Bay and the Millennium Centre; about 30 minutes. Sounds a lot, but you relax by the pier when you get there! The hotel itself was clean and had good facilities, including a small but adequate gym.
