About
Claire is based in Galashiels
Coming from a keen flower and vegetable growing family, Claire likes nothing better than getting a garden doing what it does best.
Claire first trained at Askham Bryan College where she did a full time intensive course in horticulture for one year, earning top marks and distinctions.
Following that, Claire launched her design business, Cadoux Landscape Design in 1994 and with two other designers helping to support the build process, designed the Premier Award winning garden at the North of England Flower Show, having been assessed by Chelsea Flower Show judges. Two other awards followed, and hundreds of gardens were designed and built.
Claire also achieved full Registered Membership of the Society of Garden Designers, (SGD), having had her skills and business assessed through their stringent adjudication process. For four years, Claire was also on the panel of Regional Co ordinators of the Society of Garden Designers, representing garden designers throughout the North East of England, and then became National Co ordinator.
During her time as a designer, it became obvious there was a lack of skilled gardeners and ultimately that altered her path and she moved from pure design and construction, into provision of gardening expertise. Through all the designing years, Claire organised and attended twice yearly continuing professional courses in plants, plant work, design techniques, landscape photography, specialist work, including training with David Austin Roses.
Claire set up her new business as a gardener and never looked back. The skills Claire provides are:
Straightforward gardening care.
Advisory sessions to suit a client on any aspect of gardening or design
Maintenance of gardens (no grass or hedge cutting, unless training is required)
Proper pruning, winter shaping, pruning for fruit and or flower production, division of plants
Installing of planting borders, choosing plants, where to buy, how to plant, how to care for plants.
Weeding advice and care.
Teaching, garden talks, designing, managing builds, how to choose a contractor, how to get the garden you want.
Claire can act as a consultant, or do the work. She can come to your garden and advise on all aspects of maintenance for the garden over a 12 month period or as necessary. She can carry out specialist tasks, sometimes clients are too busy or do not feel confident at tackling certain aspects of the garden.
A garden is always evolving and Claire is happy to offer advice to take it to the next level and keep it there. Improvements can be phased in over several years, or as one project to suit the client. Plans can be drawn.
