We may have returned to Savannah just to eat at Circa! Fabulous everything! Perfectly prepared escargot, trout, and steak frites paired with a reasonably priced Cabernet Franc.

We always had a special time at Circa. The service is attentive, the food is delicious, the atmosphere is lively and inviting. Saron is an expert behind the bar who crafts the best cocktails in the city; Mary, Dream, and indeed the entire team serve with precision and professionalism; David, the chef prepares what must now be his signature Lamb shank that I believe is served in heaven, and Monica, the implacable Manager is always gracious yet willing to step in when servers need a hand. Circa 1790 is always a delight! This time, a group of us came in for cocktails and to celebrate several birthdays... (We weren't the most quiet or demure of those there) the staff, bartenders, and even the regulars were very accommodating and helpful.I always recommend Circa!

We've checked the Circa 1875 out during the day sightseeing Savannah and decided to make a reservation for Dinner that night - they are on OpenTable. Got there in time and were right away seated. They had a table for 4 reserved for us so we could decide to sit beside or opposite each other. Nice gesture because the place was really busy. Service is vert friendly and the interior nice  and charming - for our taste a little too stuffed with odds and ends. The food is really great the portions rather big - my wive could not finish hers. We started with the scallops backed with Gruyere Cheese, my wife had the trout - two nice filets and I had a sea bass - the server filleted it nicely on the table. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. So definitely Savannah has much more good restaurants to offer besides the Pink House. For sure we would come again. More...

We loved Circa. This was our first time and the occasion was my 65th birthday. The atmosphere was lovely and calm. You could actually hold a conversation without competition with loud music or the lack of noise insulation which is a problem with most restaurants in Savannah. The decor was just like a French Bistro in Paris: ornate, yet cosy. Our wait person, Mary was very warm and knowledgeable without being intrusive. The food was generally excellent. My partner had a great Caesar salad and a marvelous, tasty sea bass which was boned at the table. I ordered the house cassoulet (authentically French, but perhaps a bit salty) and started with the Moules (mussels) Marinières. Although very flavorful, I felt that the mussels were a bit underdone—usually not a big issue for me as I don’t mind raw oysters or clams—and unfortunately a few hours after the meal, I was struck with 12 hours of “Montezuma’s revenge,” something I had not had for many years! Of course, it could have been anything that caused this, but my bets are on the mussels. Despite this, I would still return to Circa 1875 and be a bit more judicious when ordering and more proactive about questioning what comes to the table, if I think there is an issue. Our first trip to Savannah. We found Circa 1875 on Open Table and liked the reviews of this French bistro. We arrived early on a rainy night, and was welcomed quickly by the hostess. Our table wasn’t ready in the wine cellar, so we met the bartenders at a beautiful, friendly antique bar. My French 1875 was skillfully prepared and relaxing. All around us everyone was enjoying themselves in the casually French Advertising decorated bar/dining room. Quickly our table was ready, and we descended to the wine cellar, one of 4 or 5 tables. The staff was friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive. We started with the grilled frisée salad and the foie gras. The cranberry jam with the foie gras was the right sweet/sour. My wife had the trout and I enjoyed the veal chop grilled to a juicy medium. To finish it off I didn’t share my mousse au chocolat, the creme brûlée having just been 86’d.
