About

I am an experienced counsellor and am a registered member of the BACP. I assess my clients individually and work integratively. This means I use several different models of counselling intertwined and leaning more to one than the others as required by the individual.

Q&As

I love that I am passionate about my work and despite the fact that I underwent very intense and thorough training, I am still keen to learn more about counselling theory , finding it very interesting but also endeavouring to provide the best possible service to my clients.
I enjoy meeting and working with new people and find it very rewarding and satisfying , from putting a nervous client at their ease with me to seeing them make progress and ultimately feeling that I have truly helped and supported them and made a difference to their lives.

Having worked as a nurse in the NHS for 35 years I was drawn to retraining as a counsellor as the part of my job I enjoyed and excelled at the most was communicating with and supporting (emotionally and psychologically) patients, relatives and colleagues. Having worked as a counsellor for a charity for 3 years , I am now embracing working in private practice as it gives me more freedom in how I work and who with. I have now retired from my job in the NHS with a view to building up my counselling private practice and undergoing further training in this very important field.

I am approachable, warm , friendly, kind , caring and compassionate.
I am genuine, sincere , open, trustworthy and reliable.
Clients quickly feel at ease with me and I encourage feedback.
It's your therapy so I want you to be happy with it and to know how you feel working with me.
I have worked successfully with people suffering with stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex PTSD and dissociative disorders.
Whatever your psychological / emotional / mental health problem I am happy to meet with you to discuss and assess your needs. If we agree to start regular sessions I will be fully committed to helping and supporting you as best I can.
My qualification is 'Diploma in Integrative Counselling' (NHS BACP Accredited course).
I have received extensive training on working with victims of sexual abuse (in child and adulthood) and have worked in this field for a charitable organisation for 4 years.
I undergo regular (3 to 4 weekly) supervision sessions to help and support me with my work .
I always adhere to and abide by the Ethical Framework of the BACP , am fully insured and undergo their required levels of Continuing Professional Development.
I work with adults of all ages and young people from the age of 16 years.
Many of my clients say that despite their initial anxiety, they look forward to their sessions with me.
I have helped many people to raise their self esteem , understand themselves , make changes to how they think, feel and behave for the better, working towards calmness, contentment and fulfilling their potential in work, education, leisure and relationships.
