Excellent brunch as always. Servers are always courteous and constantly check on the table to make sure drinks are replenished and everyone is satisfied. I love the variety of dishes that are presented. You never know what is going to be served for brunch but know it will be good! More...

The American Wagyu was melt in my mouth delicious. The booths are deep, comfortable and private. The service was a little slow but overall an excellent experience.

This was our first visit to C. I. Shenanigans, and it was for the Thanksgiving buffet. We loved the layout and architecture of the building, the views of the sound were great! Our table, on the other hand was next to the kitchen door and server's station. understandably, there was a lot activity around us, as well as a lot of noise. We expected it to be busy, but we were a little disappointed with the seating. The servers were pleasant and very attentive while helping us, however when at their station (about three feet away) they were loud and did a fair amount of complaining about other coworkers. We enjoy taking advantage of the two week Tacoma Restaurant Week and try to visit four establishments, two each week. This year we started with C. I. Shenanigans, having driven by it for years on our way to other venues.We had trouble finding C. I. Shenanigans because it was a dark, dreary night and their sign was not illuminated. Once we were inside we were led down some steps to the lowest level and seated in a booth.Service: Our waiter was scattered; he constantly failed to follow through on requests such as coffee (served in small cups that cooled quickly), bread (which he suggested then was slow to deliver, requiring several reminders), and coffee refills which we had to request frequently.Food: The appetizer, Lobster Bisque, was served cooler than I prefer but flavorful and my spouse approved of it. The main course, Sole stuffed with crab and shrimp, mixed rices, and broccoli, turned out to be disappointing. The Sole portion was average size and the flavor and texture were adequate. The rice was slightly under cooked, with the wild rice part left seriously crunchy and was cooler than it should have been. The broccoli was also too cool and slightly under cooked.The server asked us how we liked the meal, and we pointed out its' shortcomings. He promptly got a manager. We explained to the manager what we felt was wrong with the meal and the service, and why we felt qualified to make our judgement. He listened carefully to us and offered to replace our meal. When we told him"No, thanks", he took a portion off of our bill.At that point I remembered the dark sign and asked if he knew why it was out. He was startled and had no idea that it wasn't on, but said he'd deal with it. When we left the sign was shining brightly, a beacon leading to an adequate meal.We understand that a restaurant can have an "off" night, so we will try them again in a few weeks The potential for a good meal and a pleasing experience is there and we will see if it can be realized. Service was very good. I had the filet and it was cooked perfectly, med rare. Another had salmon fettuccine she really liked it and it was a big portion. One person had the chicken marsala but didn't care for the stuffed asparagus inside it. One ordered the fish and chips from the kids menu, but got the regular order.
