Prentice said, " I can fix her", and he was right.Prentice Kidd is poetry in motion. He is like Walter Payton was to football or Michael Jordan was to basketball. He is accommodating to my schedual. He is honest in his assessment of my animal as we progress. He is absolutely wonderful with training and breaking dogs out of severe behavior issues. Prentice Kidd is outstanding. I visited Chicago Canine Company a couple days ago. I was very impressed with how knowledgeable and professional Prentice was. Its amazing to watch him coach his clients on how to communicate with their dogs and to see how fast the animals would respond to his teaching. I started working with Prentice a few weeks ago with our 3 1/2 month old puppy. Prentice obviously found his calling - the dogs just love him and he's amazing handling them. I love the flexible schedule and the fact that Prentice calls out mistakes I make, tells me how to correct them and how to work with our puppy. I am very happy with our progress and feel much more confident handling our dog. He truly cares about the dogs and the place is great! There is a huge training room in addition to the puppy day care space, which also has a nice outdoor area. If you have any questions about Prentice's skills, watch his dog Achilles...I was blown away! I also noticed people with older dogs coming in to address bad habits or issues, so it's not just for puppies...he's doing all levels and bends over backwards to meet the goals of his four- and two-legged clients. The knowledge and experience behind the staff is truly impressive. I am extremely happy with the progress in Dino's behavior since I started bringing him here. Dino is an extremely big dog, and I used to feel as if he was dragging me on walks, I had no control. Now, he is so obedient that even if there is another dog he does not move without command.  Bringing him here was the best decision I ever made. Ever hear of Cesar Milan the dog whisperer? Well get to know Prentice Kidd, the black Jesus, the animal and human whisperer. I brought my 6 month old Shar Pei Pit Bull mix to Prentice. The combination of these 2 breeds together gives you a little bit of awesomeness but a whole lot of stubbornness. In understanding the type of dog my fiancé and I had adopted, from having her when she was 7 weeks, we spoke to other trainers and through the grace of God, we were introduced to Prentice at the Chicago Canine Company. We put our puppy into the high obedience training program as she needed a lot of work. She is self rewarding and extremely stubborn and she really didn’t respond to treats or food. She is an alpha female and she will find ways to make her life better or more comfortable. She was a little bundle of disaster and nightmare and a pain in my rear. After 2 weeks of training with Prentice, I noticed a minor change. I was getting doubtful and thought about pulling my puppy to bring her back home. Prentice told me I needed to trust the process and to be patient as I was trying to rush the process without me consciously knowing that I was doing just that. 30 days later, due to my dogs breed, it did take a bit longer, she has made MAJOR LEAGUE changes and progress. Not only has he trained my puppy, but he has trained me. I have learned a lot about myself through this process. He calls it how he sees it. His NePoPo training and with food being existential, training becomes, and is, a high intensity game for the dog. No e collars, no choke chains, and no abuse at Chicago Canine! On top of that, I go to Chicago Canine anytime any day everyday to watch Prentice train and while I am involved in the training. No other trainers do this! All positive reinforcement, repetition, and patience. My confidence level, anxiety, and doubt have all disappeared. Prentice is the man. He knows what he’s doing, is passionate and knowledgeable, and lives, breathes, and eats animal language. Dog psychology and human psychology intertwined to create a world where my puppy and I speak the same language, I am beyond thankful all due to Prentice’s training with the both of us. Greeting to All you dog lovers well to get started, Me and my wife called several dog trainers within a 2 week period. and none of them responded. Then on December 5, 2018,  we ran across Chicago Canine Company, on the internet, I read a lot of the reviews and decided to give them a call. A gentleman by the name of Prentice Kidd answered the phone. We asked him about his business and his dog training expertise. And he took his time and politely answered all of our questions, We explained to him We have a 2 year 6 month old. Male Doberman, (Zeus) and a 7 month old European female Doberman (Journey) we explained to him we wanted protection training for Zeus, so he explained to us what it takes to achieve the desired level of a fully trained protection guard dog. and asked us to bring our dog in so he can  evaluate him, and see what it will take to get him to be a Protection Guard dog. So we was really impressed with the phone conversation, so we decided to take our Big boy in for his evaluation. so the next day December 6 2018. we went in and  to our surprise it was a well organized, and clean and decent business. he showed us around and sit us down and explained everything to us. he made us feel very comfortable. he evaluated our dog and brought other dogs and puppy's out to let us see his work. and the dogs performed perfectly. and they were happy and eager while they were doing it. no shock collars, no force to make the dogs obey, and no hollering, at the dogs. we were really impressed. we stayed there about 3 and a half hours. He insisted that  during the training he would encourage us to come in and be a part of the training, so we will see and know how our dog is being treated and trained, and we can also learn ourselves the correct commands. and he would show us the correct method to train my female Journey myself. Now you all know there is an old saying, (Knowledge is to be sold not told.)  So me and my wife decided that this is the man who we want to train our dog. So Mr Prentice explained to us what my dog needed and we decided to go with the Board and train because my dog has to tighten up on his obedience in order to perfect his protection training.  So after all that's been said we enrolled our dog in class on December 7, 2018 and its been about 9 days now. Ive been attending the classes with him and we are  really glad so far with his technique and the decision we made to go with this company. now like I said its been only 9 days. During this time he has shared some things for me to work on with my puppy and she has really improved in these 9 days to, we found out one important thing so far. It's a right way and a wrong way to train a dog, so If you want to know how this training and our experience turns out, we are  going to continue to keep you all updated. Let me tell you a little about my dog his name is Zeus he weights about 110Lb.  I birth him myself and like most pet owners he is spoiled like a baby. he's well mannered at home. but that's all, he never been around other dogs or other people only at home and to the parks no social skills. so if i may say so myself Mr Prentice got his hand full. I trained him the best I knew how, and I though I did a good job until I saw Mr Prentice dogs worked it really blew our minds, but now its time for the Professional's to take over, So if you are looking for a dog trainer keep up with my review and believe me were going to give you the real deal. we are  not getting paid for this review nor did we have any knowledge, of The canine company in any way. Trained & boarded our Cattle Dog / Shepherd mix under old ownership & had amazing results. Behavior is much better. Would highly recommend to anyone for training & boarding. I have not yet started any training here YET. I went for an evaluation today for my 2 year old pitbull and couldn't have been more relieved with how it went. My husband and I went to another trainer previously and he told us that our dog needed to be gotten rid of or put down due to the aggressive behavior that he had started to show. We didn't believe that the solution was to put him down or get rid of him so we searched for someone else. We were recommended Chicago Canine Company by a friend. Decided to check him out because at this point we had nothing to lose. His evaluation was very thorough and very understandable. We went inside and were around some dogs. Prentice did his best to have me understand my dogs behavior and how to handle it. He explained that someone who isn't well trained would react like the previous trainer we went to did. Our dogs behavior wasn't due to the fact that he was "an aggressive dog" , he just need to be acclimated to different environments and taught what is right and wrong behavior. This was a great experience and I'm looking forward to my pitbull starting his training soon and see what my dog is truly capable of. More...

We became the owners of a German Shepard more by circumstances than intentionally. I went to get my car washed and there he was, on a leash strung to a table. He seemed very friendly and I asked if I can pet him. The owner said yes, but to be careful as he sometimes mouthed. I pet him while my car was getting washed. Then the owner was talking to me, saying he got Maschi from a client a few month back, however that he can’t handle him as he was mouthing/biting his brother and elder mom at home. I told him that before he gives him to a shelter to call us. A couple of days later he called. We really did not know what we were getting into. It was hell on earth, an out of control German Shepard, he snapped/mouthed my arm so many times, to the point that at the doctor’s office I was asked if I am save at home. By luck or more so divine intervention we found Chicago Canine Company and started going to train there. It was a hard road to reverse the behavior our dog displayed. Prentice instructed us not to feed him between the daily training sessions and during training he gets “big rewards, i.e. we feed him while training. There were training sessions so short that it was hard for me not to feed him at home. I called our vet to get her advice, which was to let her monitor his weight. For 2 month it was going back and forth, awesome sessions – horrible session, We were establishing the roles within our family and he lost 10 lbs along the way. The vets comment on one of the weighing was – she cannot believe how much calmer he has become. Now another 6 weeks later – I can play with him off leash around our house and yard. When people come, he checks them out and then goes in his crate with the doors open. The tears, the exhaustion of several daily training sessions – it was worth it. We have a gorgeous, obedient dog, not perfect (neither am I), however he complies with the commands. Without Chicago Canine and specifically Prentice – we would not have made it and our dog would have ended up in a shelter. Thank you Chicago Canine Company – thank you Prentice! P.S. I went to other training facilities – and they would not even take a chance on us after their evaluation! Forget to get him into doggy day care! More...

Couldn't ask for a better experience. Prentice has helped me take my dog to a whole new level and we have just begun training about a month ago. the amount of care and effort he puts into me and our dog is astounding. We are treated as individuals and are not just running through a one size fits all program but everything is tailored to our abilities and development. He has not only helped train my puppy but has given me so much knowledge and experience. There is just as much focus on me learning and understanding the methods as there is on my pup getting the behaviour He constantly pushes me to be a better handler and helps me push my dog to be the best that he can be. Chicago Canine Company has nothing but the utmost respect for clients and their dogs. Dog training is not a one time event that you can get your Dog trained and then your finished. Dog training is a consistent process. In order for the training to remain effective it must also be practiced in the home and trained behavior enforced by the dog parents and/or siblings. Dogs are just like children; they have to be loved, stroked egos at times, expressed that they are doing a good job(praises) whether it’s rubs, kisses or treats. Dogs have feelings as well and understand when they are being mistreated and just like people don’t like or want to be mistreated neither does a dog or any animal for that matter. Me and my son were maliciously attacked by one our dogs some years back and it was partially my fault. I was hospitalized and had surgery on my arm where one of his teeth were logged and stuck. My son was maliciously bitten and had approximately 19 bite wounds on his inner thigh at the age of 15. After I called Prentice to help, he visited me in the hospital to do a wellness check on me. Prentice also made a home visit and successfully removed those dogs from my home while I were hospitalized after I called animal control and they explained to me I would have to wait 7-10 days for someone to come and help me and my family. This was unacceptable by all means. I had one dog and a puppy left that was not apart of the attack and I was determined to get them trained after all I did not want another incident. After I was released from the hospital Prentice took the time to train with me and my dogs. I was afraid of every dog that I saw for fear of an attack. Prentice was like a coach and support system as he utilized his own dogs as therapy for me to get over my fear. I love dogs and was scared that I would never be able to interact with them after the attack. Not long after I regained confidence with Prentice’s help. After this I knew Prentice had a purpose and it was dog training. As crazy as this may sound he understands them and communicates very well with dogs. This is a gift to be able to do the things and accomplishments that Prentice has achieved with dogs. Dogs are not for everyone and everyone does not deserve a dog. As I go through all of these reviews and comments I understand that people don’t like to take accountability for their behavior and cause and effects of their behavior. My dog Chief was spoiled and wouldn’t work for anything at 3 years old when I started bringing him in to work with Prentice. My dog and I have been coming here for about 4 months and the trainers have been amazing. They use positive reinforcement and really teach you to work with your dog. We first started working on having him eat kibble (before he would only eat home food or bacon) then it became obedience, day care, boarding and much more. This place offers so much and I highly recommend them! They are always willing to work with you and I think the prices are reasonable and absolutely worth the amazing service you get. Prentice Kidd has a very unique approach with k9 training. Unlike many board and training companies in the chicagoland area which use old school training methods, he uses a much more realistic approach. I have gone through several trainers with my 4 legged child Lupo over the last 2 years and finally found a home for Lupo. Chicago Canine Company, without a doubt, has the best dog training program in Chicagoland. I sought Prentice for some basic dog obedience and what immediately separated him from the numerous trainers I've dealt with previously is that he trains YOU how train your dog. I learned so much and progressed so quickly with Prentice that in only a few months I went from trouble with basic obedience to IPO competition training for two dogs. Prentice trains using classical and operant conditioning; his methods are so simple and effective, every dog and person I've seen step into Chicago Canine Company leaves with improved confidence and ability.
